Controller is correct, but in the Air Force it's Comptroller.
We're a federal contractor and we have a 'comptroller.'
I'm pretty unfamiliar with commercial business terms.

Agreed.
I was just trying to think of larger, busier places.

There's a margin of error when using computer programs as far as truly reflecting the state of the business goes.
Plus, most operations people do not have the time to gather all the necessary data from different sources needed to truly reflect the financial state of their business. That's where a controller or other accounting/finance person comes in. They're able to look at trends to create forecasts and budgets, and it allows the operations people to focus on operations and making money.

good luck op, hope you get it.
controllers are valuable for multiple location / concept groups as well as large dollar start ups so don't rule out anything that may be new and on a bigger scale.

Thanks for the advice.
I would like to be on the Northshore and work for a corporate office. Those are my two most significant requirements. I have valid experience and I'm more adaptable and able to learn than most (from what I've been told), so I'm hoping I can find something. I'm just very new into my career, and I don't necessarily have a focus on any particular industry - just a focus on accounting and finance. I'll see what happens.
