Wife and I watched this last night on HBO and the full episode is actually up on Youtube. I didn't catch the beginning, but WOW! Many of you may have already heard of this, but these doctors are taking the common cold virus, measles, and even HIV and reprogramming them to attack and destroy cancer cells in tumors and leukemia. Amazing stuff that may eventually lead to a cure for all cancers. It's well worth the watch.

Here's the Youtube link:

This has actually been in the works for many, many years. I think this is the most exciting area of cancer research - programming a virus that simply lacks the capacity to cause serious problems in people (like the cold, in case it escapes containment) to kill other viruses and/or cancer cells.

The one on India/Pakistan is much more informative. Those two nations are going to make it reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally important to find a cure for cancer, seeing as the Nuclear Winter they'll eventually reign down on each other will increase rates worldwide, along with global water and crop issues as well.

Meh, I think they would have already done it by now if it were going to happen.

Of course, some outside event could always change the playing field.

Sorry, I did search but must have not used the best keywords. I know this has been around for a while, but human trials are pretty new right? Plus, maybe there are some TD people who may have missed it. This is pretty incredible stuff that every would want to know about.

I'll watch the season premier tonight for sure. Thanks for letting me know. I don't keep up with tv shows very well. What's tonight's going to be about?

There's a guy that posts on here who has been on the cutting edge of this type of research at MD Anderson for the past few years...

That guy does some kick arse reporting. He's the one that snuck into North Korea and made an awesome documentary.

This is very encouraging to see. As I said earlier, they should be giving this dude a blank check to do whatever it takes to further this research.

Shane Smith is a fascinating guy. Multi millionaire who smokes with Wiz Khalifa and drops 300k at a steakhouse.

he's great on the joe rogan show

but man if you want to hear some shite, listen to the last JRE he was on. when they start talking about life and what motivates them after they've both "made it", it's pretty eye-opening. it's the sort of discussion that you we, the unsuccessful, don't' get to be part of. it's 2 guys who come from humble beginnings with lots of frickups in their youth who are now rich (super rich in the case of smith)

Yea I listened to that one. I found it interesting when he said he was gonna buy a ton of land and preserve it when he dies so no one could build on it. Those North Korean stories he had were unbelievable, especially with the two actors who were kidnapped.

I'm currently taking a class at UAB in which we are isolating viruses in sewage enfluent that attack and kill acinetobacter. If you are not familiar with it, acinetobacter is a bacteria responsible for a lot of hospital related infections. Thanks for posting the link. I hadn't seen this before. It's really remarkable.
