Once or twice a month the wife and I will stop in and split an app if we're hungry(pork cheeks or arancini), blue cheese wedge, and a margherita pizza and a couple glasses of wine at the bar.
When I do sit down at a table I'm usually going with the filet although last time was disappointing. It Came out barely luke warm throughout. Usually they do a good job with it.

They still have it in Lafayette

Don't get the regular ribeye from Ruffino's if they don't have the dry-aged... it's not worth it.
Learned that the hard way. Jones got it last time we went, and it was just okay.. and the potatoes it comes with are the most bland potatoes I've ever had.
Fin: WTF. Screw Lafayette. Ended up reserving Ruth's instead for tonight. I hope I get a random meat craving, because I don't have it the way Jones seems to right now.
Meat.

Oh well, since they don't have the dry-aged I guess I'll get the cedar plank fish or the 12 oz filet. Arancine and cheeks sound like safe bets as apps. The ribeye cap sounds intriguing, but I'm guessing that it probably costs an arm and a leg.

Cap is good, but has a sweet hint of a sauce w it. Its better dry seasoned.... Usually runs about $35.
I betcha there is a 45 or 2 back there..... Waiters typically have to ask.
Enjoy dinner.

Maybe.
I called an hour or so ago ready to make a reservation if they had it, and they said they do not serve it at all anymore.
Of course, that might be because I was on the phone instead of sitting right in front of them, but it is what kept me from reserving.
There are plenty of other good things at Ruffino's though, OP. The fish everyone talks about really is very good.

Had dinner there last weekend, and we were talking about it at the table. A good friend always tells me how good they are, but it isn't what I want when I dine in.
Next time I want pizza takeout, I've got to try to remember there.
I saw several people come in and get it to-go while I was having dinner. I bet that's mostly how they sell it.

I order it. I also order the carbonara which is as close to Ms. Fannies from the Village as I'll ever get. I think it's only on the Sunday brunch menu so just ask.

Occasionally I'll order it for dining in.
Grabbing one to-go for a movie night is clutch.

I had the fish in papillote with the pecan salad and it was very nice. Nice crowd too. I hadn't been in awhile so it was good to see it was going well. Only hiccup was our server was pouring the wine a bit heavy and the first bottle didn't make it around the table of 6. She realized it and didn't make the mistake on the rest of the bottles.
My wife had the redfish with crabmeat and it didn't last long so I'm assuming she enjoyed it. Grasshoppers and snifters of brandy capped off a nice evening.

Ate at the bar last night after Ubering our friend home from downtown. Ordered 4 appetizers, with the best being the pork cheeks, and the next best a toss up between the arancini and the crab crusted shrimp special. I like their tuna tartare, but they were out by that point. Couple of Sazaracs, and it made for a nice evening. And yeah, it was hopping even at 9:30 or so when we split. And I agree, I've driven there a couple of times just to eat pizza and have a couple of drinks.

We went last night too. Had a less than stellar experience. Ruffinos got moved several spots back down the list

I see your gripe but at least she corrected it to 4oz pours for the 2nd bottle. You should be happy they pour normal 6oz pours, that isn't exactly a bad thing as a consumer. Many times if a party is over 4 I would just recommend getting 2 bottles initially instead of stretching the one 750ml/24oz bottle. Would you have wanted her to stretch the bottle even further with a 7 or 8 party top?

Last time I sat at a table was a couple of months ago, and service wasn't great, but I wrote that off to being with a huge group right after LSU graduation and the place was slammed. Think I'll stick to sitting at the bar.

Not a gripe just a small hiccup. Our service was fine but it was crowded so I can see where from time to time service can be an issue. Seems the kitchen was doing well getting the food out.
I prefer a 3-4 ounce pour anyway but no I don't complain about someone with a heavy hand. But to be clear I brought the wine. We brought 3 bottles, ordered one good one and the girls had martinis and we all had after dinner drinks. All in all a good time was had.

Sounds like a damn fine time
You sound easy to please and reasonable. I'm sure the server enjoyed yall as guest. Nothing worst than someone at the table
being an arse for no real reason.

Completely agree, its awesome.
Get the roasted garlic on the pizza, I dont think its on the menu as a topping but they always will squeeze a pod of it on the pizza.
The other strongest item they have (aside from that red velvet cake) are the meatballs, thus,
Meatballs and garlic pizza
