The saints said they didn't want to bring drew to the table this off season. End of story

Half Past Never. Don't see Drew as that kind of guy. Brady's wife makes $60 million so no big deal for him. P. Manning wants another ring.

Payton Manning's cap hit has been higher then Brees over the length of his contract. He's coming off another injury, and the broncos threatened to cut him.

Both have also had multiple big contracts

Holy crap, she makes $128k a day. She has 3x his net worth

Drew's cap hit isn't even that bad. It's only $19 mil this season.

Next season is when we will need him to sit down and talk about extending him and spreading that money around. He's due $26 mil next season and $27 mil the next

This past season it was $19 mil. It's $26 mil this year and $27 mil next year and then he's a FA.

What about doing an extension to spread the cash?

That cap hit sucks balls.

That's too much and I'd be disappointed if they don't do something. I know Payton said they weren't looking to do anything but hopefully that was just coach talk. If Brees is serious about winning another SB and helping the TEAM, then that # needs to come down by a restructure or extension, whatever. I also understand what some have said about it being better next year, but $26mm is a huge hit. As long as the Saints get every FA they really want, I guess it doesn't matter, but we've already seen PT get cut.

They will not rework the Brees deal. They will let him finish the contract and ride out into the sunset. The reality of it all is that you have Brees for 2 years so it is time to develop his replacement.

He played on one for his first 6 years. Drew has earned the right to cash in.

If Drew wants to work out something to help us out then great. If he does not, no problem either. I can think of many more guys that should "give up" money over him.

Drew is not going to take one for the team. All the team first, all I care about is winning was just a bunch of bs while he played out his ridculously cheap first contract. I don't like that he still tries to play the persona of winning is the most important aspect of football to him, but I wouldn't give any of my salary away. We take our hit with him, start grooming his replacement, and make sure we are ready for the next regime. The only chance we have to win now is through the draft and hitting the jackpot on a FA or 2.

Good God, this. No one was complaining when Drew was playing on a severely undervalued deal during his first contract. Yes, it's a big contract, but he isn't the only one on the team with a big contract in relation to his position. When Drew's done, we need all of the assets that we can have, including cap space, to rebuild. I do not want to be paying on his contract years after he's done.

Thoughts?

You brought nothing. No humor. No anger. No charts. No double entendre. No irony. No boobs. No gifs. No nothing. And its a Friday.

That cap hit does suck balls. But I doubt he will restructure. He will extend but I'm not even sure Loomis even wants to do that
