So you believe he will be better playing off ball?

I believe the team will be better with him playing the 4... He can still handle the ball in a similar fashion that Martin does now. I don't see how that is detrimental to anyone. He doesn't have to literally play point guard for him to use his abilities.

Huh? I think the only (relatively speaking) weak part of his game is his ability to fight for position on the blocks. If anything, that will be the biggest change he'll see from high school to college.

Never said that, although I think his ball skills could allow for it.

It's funny how everyone is on Victor's jock. It doesn't matter who plays center. Success of next years team is depending on one of the M&M's leaving or moving to the bench as a 6th man.

if either of them stay, they'll be starting. That's like a 1,000% lock.

I'm in baseball mode. I thought the OP meant centerfield and who was going to replace Stevenson!

Broski, you may be right. But that doesn't make them a better team

Your question will be answered when we find out what Martin and Mickey do...and also if Robinson III and Malone improve

ER and Malone could seriously use some time at a Big-Man Camp. Either that or a private tutor like Dale brought in for Shaq. (Bill Walton). Also need increased wt. and stamina training. You can't coach size so they've got something to work with. Don't see either starting next year unless drastic improvement is seen.

Maybe Damian Jones graduates early at Vandy comes home.

He's only a sophomore, so I'm not sure how that's possible

It's because everyone wanted him to sign with LSU initially being the #1 recruit in the state.

I think he played less than 60 minutes total at ARIZ before transferring. He's a complete question mark IMO.

The frick are you talking about? Who would be a better option to start over Martin and Mickey if they stay?

Is that seriously what you are trying to say?

I lurked over on the Arizona boards when he made the announcement, and frankly they were bummed he was leaving. They were confident he'd be a very good 3 year player, which is what LSU needs.

The Arizona coach is also well known for recruiting the most athletic guys you can find. It's encouraging he coveted Victor as much as he did

Well, he will have 3 years of eligibility and is solidly built to play the 4 spot - 6'8-6'9, 230. It will be interesting to see what he'll bring to the table.

If Mickey and/or Martin stay, next years starting 5 will be interesting to see.

I know SoS said he isn't sold on Simmons being point-forward, but I'm just thinking the size next years squad could have.

I agree that he's a prototypical 4. Assuming Mickey and Martin both leave, there's little doubt in my mind they'll have Simmons at 4 and Victor at 5 in situations, and maybe even the starters.

obviously we're a national title contender if Robinson has a breakthrough off-season

I agree.

You think Blakeney comes in starting at the 2 - or off the bench? I know this is asking for a guess, but curious of your take.

He's more like 6'7" but plays bigger than that. Pretty good hops and a tough-minded defender and rebounder. Knows how to finish with contact being made. For a better view of what the Tigers have next season, once we get the draft issue sorted out, it's easier to visualize the team if you focus on a ten-man rotation rather than the starting five. If Martin and/or Mickey return and ER improves as expected, no one should play more than 27/28 minutes per game next year.

Don't expect too much from Victor...you will be disappointed.
