And this is not a Anti-AD discussion by any means ... if anything, a slight dig at Monty.

Completely agree this a great discussion point in my opinion.

We saw how poorly the team plays after AD unexpectedly goes out for a few game before they learn how to play without him. Nobody on this board is arguing against AD's greatness. The only way thus team will ever achieve greatness is if they figure out how to play with AD on the court, within the system, much like the Spurs have done with Duncan. There are times when you absolutely have to let your star take over, but you can't rely on that every night or it makes the team worse.

Our offense without him is way too good to justify it not being absolutely ELITE with him on the court.

I don't think it can be said any better than this.

And I'm not arguing that we are better on offense without him. It was merely an observation that our offense looks less balanced because we force him the ball more.

Less balanced =/= worse

Just means that other weapons on offense are expensed.

The offense is certainly not better with Davis off, but it probably is more balanced.

Pretty much this and everything else you said.

They're not hurting on offense. It just looks prettier when they move the ball and it would be nice to see more flow in the offense. Davis is a LeBron/Durant type- he'll always be efficient and elevate an offense regardless of system or talent around him. He's just a freak. If they moved the ball more regularly and forced defenses to scramble/make choices while Davis is out there, things will really start cooking.

I would have liked for Monty to play Gordon a little at PG to relieve Evans. He never really got him going.

Really would be nice for Monty to keep Evans and Gordon playing similar roles on offense.

Yeah. It reminds me a bit of Golden State last year v this year. They had the same talent and they did well with it, but it wasn't maximized.

Keeping guys like Gordon and Evans, who can help (Gordon is fire from 3 right now) and are used to seeing the ball, involved is just smart. Davis will get his whenever he wants. Creating an offense that harnesses Davis's unreal ability to generate open looks for everyone else is the key. It's a process and hopefully they get to that place.
