OB Mechanics: 06 Silverdado white smoke from exhaust

Yesterday when I got home from work, I parked my truck under the carport and idled for a minute while gathering my things. All of a sudden the rpm's dropped real low and started idling rough. Looked back and had thick plumes of white smoke coming from my exhaust. My immediate thought was "oh shite, I blew a head gasket." But about 10-15 seconds later it stopped. Truck returned back to normal idle and stopped smoking. Truck ran perfectly fine this morning. Brought it to a mechanic this morning. They ran diagnostics and looked over everything real good and couldn't find anything wrong.
Should I worry? Any ideas what the heck happened?
Update 3/25/15:
Diagnosis. Master cylinder is leaking brake fluid (I have been having to top off my fluid on occasion). The brake fluid ate theough the diaphragm in the power brake booster which is powered by vacuum from the intake manifold. It's sucking brake fluid into the engine and burning it off.

I had an 06 with the 5.3 liter. It did the same thing and eventually left me on the side of the road . It turned out to be corrosion on the terminals of the computer.

Can they be cleaned without messing up the computer?

They cleaned mine after throwing 3k of parts at it. The mechanic said it was from washing the engine. I don't do that anymore.

I've heard of people messing up those motors from washing them with the hose. Apparently they hold soap/water on some contacts and kill themselves.

I've never washed my engine. Makes no sense. Moisture must've gotten in there some other way.

My issues started with the fan kicking on when the truck was shutdown . Then I got the knock sensor code. Then a day or 2 later it started bucking and the white smoke. They changed the computer twice and the cats. 2987 dollars later it was still doing it. It rode the wrecker to All Star on Sherwood and finally found a mechanic that knew what to look for . He found the corrosion and cleaned the terminals. He also found an injector that was questionable. It was fine after that. I sold it but still see it on the road .

That's very helpful. I'll check the terminals. You may have saved me a lot of money.

Does your truck have AFM?
Posted on 3/5/15 at 11:52 am to AutoYes_Clown
Nope, runs on 8 cylinders the whole time.

Has anyone checked the water level?
Not sure about the computer myself but white smoke normally means water is getting somewhere it shouldn't.

Mechanic checked all of my fluids this morning. The smoke had a rich smell. Kind of like 2 cycle exhaust. He did mention that a valve could've gotten stuck open letting some oil into the cylinder.

That's what I was thinking. Maybe run a tank of 93 octane and some Seafoam through it.

My dad just informed me that one of my cousins just got rid of a '14 Silverado cause it was doing the same thing. Smoking and stalling on him. Turned out to be a bad computer.

I have had that happen, could be the culprit.
If you park it for a short time then do a warm/hot restart see if it smokes again. If so could be a valve seal or guide.
Does it run warm at low idle? could be a water intrusion issue only occurring under elevated temp/pressure. Know you don't want to hear that.
May be the others are correct just a bad computer connection.
Good Luck

Did that. It didn't smoke again.

Runs at normal temp. I'll be keeping an eye on it though. This definitely has me nervous of a larger problem.

sounds like a cylinder misfire. Unburnt gas entered the catalytic converter and out came the white smoke.
Probably a secondary misfire from the coil or wire.

It's common for the knock sensor to go out.
They sit in a hole under the intake and water can build up and corrode them.
Had to change mine

cheby moved them to the sides of the motor behind the motor mounts
