Man, I miss going to record stores and looking through all the albums and the artwork. Many times it was a surprise if your favorite band had a new album out. More a 70's problem I guess.

Good stuff.

I never had interest in an 8 track player for the very reason you couldn't rewind / FF. Singles really didn't disappear until CD's came out. One of the best things about iTunes for me was buying "45's" again, though I miss the "B" sides, some good stuff on there. I miss record stores.

4. To skip a track, you had to blindly fast-forward or rewind — or flip the cassette over.

I loved when they came out with the feature to FF to the next song... shout out to the guy that invented that!

We (some friends and I) were just talking about signing up for mailing lists at shows and how bands sent out postcards every so often... always stoked to get one in the mail announcing new tour dates.. Also, calling a venue and listening to the recording of upcoming events... that was in the first half of the 90s, too..

I remember that there was always one guy behind the counter that was a pretentious D bag. The guy that always made a snide remark about what you brought up to the counter to buy. The guy that acted like because he worked in a record store he was actually in the "music industry."

Used to go to Stan's Record Shop in S'port. Get concert tickets or records there. Stan was a legend.

no it wasn't.

I camped out for morriessey tickets, and van halen tickets went on sale the same day. B.c of where we were in line (the front), we actually caused some people to miss tickets.

growing up in Baton Rouge, I remember there being a ticketmaster outlet in Scotlandville that was money for the types of shows I wanted to see... until word got out and that became a "go to" for a lot of people too..

Recording songs off the radio demanded expert timing…

There are still some songs that I expect to follow each other when I listen to them because that happened to be the order that they were played on the radio when I taped them.

Took me forever to get a clean copy of Blinded By The Light and American Pie. Damn talking over song DJs.

Duuude, really. You´re talking about the 70s.

BTW, did Springsteen ever do Blinded, or simply pen it? Did he get paid?

It's on "Greetings From Asbury Park". Springsteen recorded it before Manfred Mann did (I think), but MM's version was much more popular.
