A 10 seed is sooooo much better than a 8/9.
to hopefully staying at the 10 spot.

Not bad for just playing our worst game of the year. One good thing is that the NCAAT doesn't have shite teams like Mizzou, Auburn, and Miss St.

Yeah, we'll probably make a Final Four run simply because we won't have to play any God-awful teams along the way.

10 seed is exactly what I'm after. Yes please.

Would absolutely love for the guys to come out and play a complete game and beat Arkansas. That could do wonders for the team/resume.

A loss to arkansas at worst puts us in the bye round. So like many said...just win one of next 2 and youre in

A win last night would have clinched a spot in the tournament for LSU (with seeding TBD).
The loss doesn't "end LSU's season" as some have predicted, but it puts them right back in a precarious situation. Beat Ark on Saturday and the Tenn loss quickly fades into memory. Lose, and the first round of the SECT suddenly becomes a very dicey game for LSU.

yep. team more than resume.
half the posters want no part of the 8/9 game, since you play #1 seed if you win it.
The 10 seed scenario above in which LSU wins the 10-7 game (not a gimme) and meet the GonZagas is not a game I would look forward to. Zags are just as big inside as LSU and they are deeper and more experienced in tournament play. And they have an actual point guard.

Or, ya know, we could have just won the home game yesterday against a bottom tier conference foe and sealed our ticket.

There is a unhappy medium between understanding and acknowledging how huge certain losses were (specifically the later ones), how much little wiggle room we have, and still being hopeful about the dance.
Im not overreacting, but I am also not going to act like those 4-5 extremely bad losses never happened. If we dont make the tournament, it wont be because of a loss to Arky at seasons end or an early exit in Nashville.
If we do make it then this team has met a goal the entire fan base expected. Thats a great thing heading into next year. They way they have gone about it is just underwhelming, so you are still going to get people who arent overly pleased with the season barring a run into the second weekend.

But the Zags just lost to BYU.
I think LSU could win that game.

After last night's performance they have no business playing in the NCAA Tournament. Sorry
Posted on 3/5/15 at 11:25 am to WAR TIGER
But will they get the chance to? That's the question. There's not one tiger fan that doesn't want this team to make the NCAA tourney, even the complainers after last nights loss...and I was one of them. I think we all want LSU to be a perennial tourney team. I don't think that's an unrealistic expectation.
The frustrating part about this team is its inconsistency. Just when you think they've figured it out, they turn in a performance like last night. And we've all seen how good they can be at different times this year, even with the turnovers, the poor fundamentals, etc. when they play like they did last night those factors are extremely obvious...poor spacing, no movement, no real adjustments to what the defense is doing, no blocking out, no penetration defense at all, no hustle, no heart. And it makes you wonder if guys are spent, guys are hurt, guys are thinking about other leagues. Who knows?
I can tell you this team needs an inside low post game. Mickey shows flashes of a low post game on occasion but not nearly enough. His shot blocking has been stellar this year but when teams figure out how to draw him in and dish it off it leaves the backside wide open for easy points. That's exactly what happened last night and in the games we've lost this year. Martin is also not that good at posting up. He's better at drawing fouls than Mickey but he doesn't seem to get enough elevation from a standstill position, plus he's got terrible touch from in close.
If this team had JOB back this year we're probably talking about a 4 seed or better team. Instead, we're sweating out an invite as a bubble team. You can be as confident as you want with all of these mock tourney projections, but the fact is our RPI dropped significantly after last night, our strength of schedule is one of the worst for bubble teams and our last 10 games will be close to .500 unless we win another game somewhere.
The one optimistic aspect is that every time you count this team out after a bad loss they surprise you with better, more focused play. We'll see.

This. It's a scary prospect going forward considering the two remaining games will be intense and should both be against very capable opponents. Although I think we're certainly in if today if the tournament started tomorrow, I think we're out if we lose both of our remaining games.
