Expect a chilly weekend. Mid 40's Friday night, upper 50's Sat and Sun.

LINK

We'd had upper 70's this week until last night Should at least be clear. Anyone know if they'll close the roof at Minute Maid?

Safe travels!

Just heard on 104.5 that Minute Maid is air conditioned but not heated. Caller said to dress warm or you'll be going home in a new Astros sweatshirt.

It will be cool. Not cold. It's not like they keep the roof open all day and week.

Pretty obvious they will. I could be wrong, but I don't think they ever have the roof open for anything other than an Astros game. It costs a shite ton of money for them to open and close that thing.

PSA for everyone that has not been to this before. Whatever the temperature is outside is what the temperature will be inside, even with the roof closed at Minute Maid Park. There is no heater.

Growing up in Houston I used to go to this tournament all the time and some years it is really really cold in there.

the field is real grass so they have to have it open some to get enough light in for it to grow. Concerts are also usually open due to pyrotechnics involved.

It's open all the time event or not. I've seen it open several times over the winter.

About $5

quote:

Santee said the retractable roof, which cost $65 million, could open or close quietly in less than 20 minutes without interrupting the game. He estimated the roof would be open 60 percent of the time. The energy cost is about $5 per usage

Hm. Interesting.

I guess I was wrong about the costs of opening the roof. I remember taking a tour of the park when they first built it and they said something about it costing a lot of money to open and close the roof, and that being the reason why they will only open it if there is like a less than 30% chance of rain or something like that. (I don't remember the exact percentage he said)

Yeah I remember the the person he said it to was one of those people that asks a million questions about everything that pops in his head and gets on everyone's nerves.

Maybe he was just saying that to frick with the guy I dunno.

I used to live in league city and didn't venture downtown a whole lot for anything other than Astros games. Every time I passed the roof was always closed, so I figured it was for the bullshite cost story.
