Yeah, Barkley wasn't a good defender. I think it was more laziness, especially later in his career

He would have no shot on durant. Maybe Lebron in his younger years If he got up for it

At the same time, a lot of people are discrediting Barkley on offense.

durant has gotten off in every playoff series he's been a part of and he still has no hardware to show for it.

Kevin Durant is in year 7 of his career, the same year MJ won his first title.

Lebron went off against the Spurs last year and still couldn't win

And that Spurs team is one of the best teams we have seen in a very long time. Their playoff scoring margin was absolutely absurd.

They were just more complete, fundamentally sound basketball players.

Yes then the 6'11 guy with shooting guard skills and a 6'8 guy built like a tank that can play PG and has super dangerous back to the basket game.

I actually listed Bosh as a possibility at Center just with the thought that there aren't really any guys in the league that can shut down the C's from back then, but you could play hectic style of defense they used in Miami. It was devastating verus Iso ball.

Plus you'd have 5 guys on the floor that can shoot the 3.

Durant isn't a great defender, but his wingspan and agility causes a ton of issues to pass through.

People are acting like the standard PF in the '90s was 6'5.

No, he was an oddity back then. He was the smallest relevant PF in terms of height. He had a ridiculous wingspan, ridiculous strength, and for the first half of his career, great speed up and down the court. It wasn't easy going up against Kemp and Malone on a regular basis.

I haven't seen a single person doubt Barkley on the offensive end. The issue has been the idea of putting him on Durant or LeBron.

he'd be the 8-10th best center in the league

Maybe overall because he has very little offensive game aside from monster dunks.

But rebounding and defense, he'd be one of the tops in the league.

And that's the only reason I'd want him on the current team... for defense and rebounding.

Sort of like it was an issue of putting him on Kemp or Malone.

But, really, there's no way in hell he'd be tasked with guarding guys like LeBron or Durant on the perimeter.

You'll notice I merely pointed out that the bigs in 92 would be given fits by his athleticism/frame. Jordan is nowhere near as skilled offensively (Hell, I'm an Aggie and laugh at his attempts on that end of the floor), but he'd more than compensate with power, IMO.

Saying he ISN'T on the same planet is disingenuous
At least somebody gets what I'm saying.

Kemp was such a beast and so underrated.... One of my favorite players of all time.

But I thought today's offenses are rocket science compared with the primitive offenses of the 1990s.

By comparison, they are.

Do not try to play word games with me, matty. You will lose!

I mean outside of the triangle (which doesn't even work in today's era) offenses were pretty primitive back then in comparison to today's offenses.

I literally looked up the first 4 centers that came to mind and they all have abused Jordan in their matchups

Best rebounder doesn't equal best defender

Thankfully they are more of an outlier than anything.

Two fantastic offenses playing on ESPN right now

The trianglr would still work if the players were runninf it and derrick fisher had control.

Are we acting like phil jackson didnt coach against the zone defense now?
