Grade inflation

I have a nephew who my sister believes is the second coming of Einstein. Never not made an A in a class. Got his ACT back and made a 17.

When I dug down, I figured out that he really is a C student, but he has brought enough box tops to get bonus points, a canned food drive to drop the lowest test score, attending sporting events to get bonus points, and for credit homework that is never checked for accuracy making up sometimes 40 percent of the grade.

Are the snowflakes of today so precious that they can't be told that they are mediocre students? Talked to a professor at LSU about it and he said the average student coming in today has no idea how to write at the level of a high school freshman.

Yes, every kid gets an award for participating or makes a team just because they signed up.

Exactly this shite that every child should be equal started about 15 years ago. You tell me how it's turned out. Learning to win and lose and how to get better doesn't exist anymore in our youth. They expect hand outs not hard work.

When I graduated High school 4 year ago I remember thinking it was absurd how the new head of our upper school had to bring this culture of everyone had to win, no one could lose. We had a summer reading book the whole upper school had to read regardless of grade and we had a full day dedicated to discussing doing shite involving the book. To end the day we wanted to have a fun game (well it was actually pretty lame but better than being in class) and she nixed it because she "didnt want anyone to feel bad about themselves cause they lost the game." It made me wanna .

I'm in my first year of teaching, and the lack of knowledge concerning writing is nothing short of astounding. These kids have no idea how to even learn, and at this point it's really too late.

Teacher's Unions

Teachers today are not compensated on how well they teach our children, but on how well their unions negotiate.

My high school teachers offered extra credit when you approached them. Would let me make up unexcused absences when I @ least had a good excuse ( in EBR Parish prison) I think that the fact you go to them and show concern for your grade carries a lot of weight

My 11 year old just took the ACT.. Made a 21 and didn't understand most of the science section. Tell your sister that her kid is dumb.

I noticed in my freshman English class in 1998 that about 95% of the rest of the students couldn't write worth a damn. Not to brag but I was easily the smartest person in that class.
