Apps repeatedly crashing on iPhone 6

Wife's (sorry no pics) iPhone 6 is constantly shutting down apps for no apparent reason. Not all apps (Facebook seems to work along with a few others), but Safari, Instagram, Pinterest, and most other apps she uses will crash after a very short period of time if they even load at all. I have tried doing a back-up and restore, but I am trying to avoid restoring to factory settings if at all possible.
Does anyone have experience with this issue? I have searched online but haven't had a whole lot of success finding suggestions that don't involve restoring to factory setting or shipping in the phone. If it makes a difference, she is running the latest iOS.

factory restore is probably your best option at this point, unless you live near an Apple store.

Safari on my 6+ crashes often so I just use Chrome and have no issues. Nothing else crashes.

My email crashes everytime I try to compose an email. As soon as I type in the email address it crashes

Before I wiped the phone and did a factory reset, I asked the mrs a few more questions and really narrowed the problem down to Safari crashing and other apps crashing when they try to access safari so I'm thinking it's a Safari issue, not her phone. Also, she said it only started happening after she recently updated her iOS.
All that being said, does anyone have a recommendation for a full browser to use in lieu of Safari?

Chrome. All iOS browsers use the safari frameworks btw.
