It can't because it's the cheap stuff. My old BMW did the same and apparently theyre notorious for that.

Unless BMW uses cheap pads, your issue is probably something else.

Generally these pad will last a lifetime but not your rotors and metal on metal doesn't produce brake dust

This. The harder pads will eat rotors like nobody's business. Likewise, the softer pads will not last as long. I have been using OEM on my Tacoma and have never had an issue with braking in any form.

Yeah I should have bought the OEM ones for my Tacoma but didn't.....the only downside is cleaning my wheels every 2 weeks min.

Let me say that my current tires weight about 20lbs more per tire than the stock Pirellis, so I'm stopping much more weight on the corners.

Mine get a little dusty but nothing really bad. Haven't washed them in a while, though.

What year is yours? Have a Toyota parts supplier who has great discounts. Brought a case of oil filters (w/ drain plug gaskets thrown in) for $40 with free shipping. Great guy to work with.

'06....I get my oil filters from AMSOIL. I change them every 7,500 miles and they cost me about $4 each. I also use AMSOIL's Signature Series 5W-30 and change it once a year (that's what AMSOIL warranties it for).

What's the name of your supplier?

Mine is an '08. Like I said, I use OEM filters, too, and 5w30 Mobil 1 Syn.

I use Dahl Automotive (Toyota). Talk to Nathan - he will cut you a good deal.

Not technically true. Some cars are just like that with brake dust. Take BMW for example

Old 944 and Mini-Cooper. Same problem.

downshift before braking.

Why do people do this?

Transmissions$ > pads$.

BTW, switch to a full-on carbon ceramic setup.
0 dust.
$10K.

Changed my front pads about 2 months ago and about a week after I clean my front rims, they're already dark grey

Sounds like you answered your own question. It's the pads. If you're really concerned with brake dust, get ceramic pads.

ETA: just saw you actually used ceramic pads...i didn't think they were supposed to dust much...are you sure you didn't get some cheap ceramic hybrid?
