Never did latrine duty but during basic I pulled KP several times and actually enjoyed it.

So did I. People always used to talk shite about being on pots and pans, but I loved it. It was hard, nasty work. But the Drill's and Mess Sergeants let us eat any cake or food that was left on the chow line.

This. KP was the detail you wanted to be on. Once the dishes were done the little old Korean ladies didn't care if you had Cokes, ice cream, whatever. Some would even give you a cigarette. It was awesome.
