Kayak Demo Days

As we head into March, kayak demo days are starting, where you can try before you buy. Great for noobs, or guys looking to upgrade their boats. Most of these guys have a wide assortment of models and even offer discounts if you buy at or near the demo.
Pack & Paddle at Vermillionville this Saturday, March 7: LINK
The Backpacker has a demo day at Waddill in BR this Saturday, March 7 and at Sugarmill Pond in Lafayette next weekend, March 14.
BR Laffy
Massey's will have some in New Orleans, not sure about their BR and Covington locations. Haven't seen dates yet. However, they are selling last year's demos: demos for sale

Also should note P&P will setup a demo every Saturday for you, no charge. Call them up during the week and let them know what you'd like to try and they'll bring it along every Saturday. Did this when I demoed the Slayer, Cuda, and Big Rig.
They also have a social night on Friday where they're giving away a kayak, power pole, and I'm sure other stuff. Hoping I can make it.

Also, local beer at P&P Friday night!
I'd love to go, but the drive back o Alex or BR might be problematic.

Just went look again, they're giving away a kayak package including a new Jackson Coosa, Werner paddle and Power Pole Micro. FeelFree is giving away 3 of their duffle bags, and Native is giving away one of their Buddy Bag coolers.
ETA: And beer...they had me at free beer.

I'm assuming they mean more regional than actual local to Lafayette/Acadiana. On the facebook page they have these companies listed, Lone Star, Cigar City Brewing, Tampa Bay Brewing, Austin Beerworks, and Revolver. I don't really know anything about beer though.

Cigar City Brewing,
say what?
these people are giving away Cigar City beer? I might have to make a trip down
none of those beers listed are available in LA

Has anyone here tried the mico power pole? Seem like a good idea, but not at the price they have them at. It's not like it's tough to set a pole from the anchor trolley. I doubt i'll ever buy one for $600 or whatever they run.

I haven't tried one, and likely never will unless I happen to win one. I've seen several of them on Pro Anglers though. I'm assuming since they're mounted on the rear you'd always have to position yourself upstream of the current so that you pivot facing the correct direction. As opposed to just a standard anchor or marsh pole on an anchor trolley where you can position the pivot point front/rear/sideways/etc.

I have a buddy who put one on his flats boat. It was ok, did the trick, but I would rather a power pole.
