Over/Under on how many OT'ers will actually call Hillar Moore's office to voice their opinions on the short jail time?

I set the Over/Under at 0.

Now that you say that I feel dumb but the thought never even crossed my mind. I sincerely thank you, that's a damn good idea, not that I have much hope it will do any good.

Number is (225) 389-3400 for anyone else interested. Best I could find was the main operator's number.

I moved away from BR to Naples, FL 4 months ago. Talk about culture shock. My former company is trying to get me to come back, pay relo, etc. There is NO WAY in hell I would do it. I grew up in 70805 and apparently that has spread all over the city. I will take 80 degrees, zero crime and the beach 10 minutes away any day. Always a Tiger, but screw BR

Pretty much exactly how I feel. I still get homesick and I will always love LSU, but there are too many irredeemably shitty aspects of BR for me to ever go back. Which sucks because there are some truly great people there.

The liberal media is pissing me off and I consider myself pretty damn liberal. Last night on the news they kept repeating that these thugs "entered the house." Why use the word "enter?" They broke in! Are they scared of being sued by the remaining woman-thug if by some crazy turn of events they got the story wrong? You can always say it is a "suspected burglary" and the word suspected would legally save you from any lawsuits, I would imagine.

How this guy was even on the street is beyond me. I am glad he is dead. I really am. You can kill someone and then be breaking into houses a few years later?

I live in this neighborhood and it really is a nice neighborhood. A lot of good people who work hard and go to school. The problem are the hood rats who wander from across Burbank. They need to be wiped out.

The neighborhood needs to see about using HOA dues to pay for a gate and a patrol car IMO

I have a feeling this will be heavily discussed at the next meeting. I don't know how probable it is but a gate would be nice. It doesn't stop people from getting in but it definitely hinders people from choosing those neighborhoods as targets.

The problem is our HOA fees are outrageous and all they seem to do is cut some grass in the common areas. I can't see people willing to shell out a whole lot more. Houses will just begin going up for sale and then house values fall and then the people robbing us can afford to move in themselves and before you know it, it IS Gardere.

I sure hope not. Other than that skid mark it is a great area of town. I hope the city and developers are doing everyhting to move them out. I dont live far from there when I'm in town. Stay strong and lock and load. If they keep breaking in to the right houses...BEFORE YOU KNOW IT.... They gone...

Define "outrageous".

I could be wrong, but once you put up a gate, the HOA also takes ownership of the street maintenance in there.

You are correct. It also requires 100% of the HOA members to agree to "covert" to a gated community. Highly unlikely that would ever happen since many of the homeowners don't actually live there.

Well, maybe not outrageous but it feels like it and I will explain why:

HOAs total around $450 per year. This may or may not seem unreasonable to others here depending on where they live. To me, it does. When we moved in in 2009 we paid this same amount and we had our front yards cut. The HOA fees covered cutting front yards and all common areas as well as other upkeep. Then they suddenly said they were no longer cutting front yards and only cutting green areas but the HOA fees stayed exactly the same. That never added up to me and I have been suspicious of our HOA ever since. I know there is upkeep but how much, really? There isn't a gate. The townhomes do not pay for ANY of the upkeep of the entrance which is a joke, to me, and I don't know how that was ever allowed to happen. It just seems really high for cutting some grassy areas. They did put in a little playground so I guess I can say they used some of the money for something else.

There is no perfect place. Everh city has pros and cons. It's taken me years to realize this truth.

They are public streets which you cannot have a gate on.

The only way to gate it is if the HOA would "buy" the streets from the city which aint gonna happen.

You are incorrect. I own property in both areas and owners pay HOA fees in villas. Nice try though.

On a side note, the HOA costs need to be looked at. I went to a lot of their meeting when I lived in there.
