I used to live in there

House was burglarized and all of my guns stolen.

Thief was caught and all but one gun was returned but I have a restitution order attached to his sentence so hopefully I get reimbursed

She said she heard from a neighbor that it was a break in and either the homeowner shot or was shot. But there's a couple of different stories going around so she's still not sure.

I have never understood why people that do home invasions don't target rich old people that live in multi-million dollar homes. There are usually no neighbors super close, they probably never expect to get robbed and you could easily get $100,000 in just jewelry and a few other small items from these homes. I mean, my grandmother was kinda rich but not super rich at all and she had well over 100k in just jewelry and was living alone at 90+. If you could find a couple way richer than her, which isn't hard in the right neighborhood then you could walk up in a suit and ring the doorbell and then pull at a gun and hold them hostage. You could take all night cleaning the place. Criminals are so dumb.

There is some truth to that but if you were smart about it then it still would be easy. Not that I have thought about it before or anything.....

The intruder was a convicted killer that was recently released. He's also had multiple buglaries. He had a crow bar and was approaching the homeowner before the homeowner shot and killed him. Homeowner wasn't just protecting his TV by shooting him.

This homeowner just did us all a favor by taking this POS out of this world.

I lived a few houses down from that house back in 2010-11. My roommates stayed until 2013. I don't remember much going on there back then. I do recall one story about 3 guys dressed up like movers, robbing a house there in broad daylight though.

Here's a more detailed article of how it happened & the tPOS wife's role in the whole deal. She actually ran into the house after her tPOS husband was shot to get the crowbar he was wielding out of his hand. Unbelievable.

I was there during the same time. Lots of shite happened. Our first week there our neighbor across the street was robbed. I know a zero turn and trailer stolen. Also heard helicopter flying around. Walk outside see the cops chasing a guy down the street. Neighborhood looked nice but was shite due to other nearby areas

Agreed. I would think homes with young families would be the worst to target -- odds are they don't have great stuff but do have an able bodied, protective dad in his 30s ready to put you down.

Looks like he should have already been put away for life as a repeat offender. Good job to the homeowner/renter.

To the the two arse hats in here trying to troll the thread. Why don't you walk around the Gardere area and hand out a list of your belongings and your address. We will see how much you like someone wandering through your house perusing your belongings. Shortly after my dad died we had a punk kid go through and steal all his stuff. He stole a deep freeze, welding machines, air compressors, hand tools and even turned around and sold most of it to a Clinton Louisiana police officer. We were able to get the little shite head thrown into DCI for a few years, but even though he had numerous prior convictions, he is out walking around like nothing happened. We were never able to get back anything that he stole and the cop is still a cop in Clinton.

Court records show that in 2005, Wheeler was charged with second-degree murder in the shooting a year earlier of his neighbor, 28-year-old Patrick Pierce. In 2009, Wheeler was sentenced to 10 years in prison on lesser charges of conspiracy to commit second-degree murder and conspiracy to commit armed robbery, court records show.

In 2011, he was charged and pleaded guilty to stealing less than $500 worth of property from RadioShack, receiving six months in Parish Prison. In 2013, he was sentenced to another six months for domestic abuse battery.

Looks like he should still be in jail for 10 years in 2009 alone not including the other sentences.

I just read that in the paper also. How in the hell do you get 10 years in 2009 for KILLING someone and then commit another crime in 2011? Even if they give him credit for time served from the day he was charged in 2005, that's six years, assuming he stays in jail the entire time. A man's life is only worth 5-6 years? No wonder there are so many murders. frick good behavior, should not be allowed for murder and rape charges.

It's amazing that there is not a minimum of 25 years for murder. Screw that, life if you are actually convicted of MURDER. The ultimate crime only gets you 2 years in jail!!!!!

I love the Advocate Headline "Man, woman walk into house that's not theirs....". Are we so f***ed as a society that we can't f***ing say that they were BREAKING AND ENTERING. We keep giving these pieces of shite the benefit of the doubt from simple headlines to prison sentences and it just keeps biting everyone in the arse. . And no-one gives a crap.

The fact that he killed someone 5 years ago and was around to attempt another crime just blows my mind to be honest. I fricking hate most of them.

The headline makes it sound as if they just happened upon the wrong house and were killed. It's chicken shite.

glad to hear things are working out for you. I thought I remembered you having some doubt about your choice right after you got there, being a little homesick. Regardless, glad its worked out in your favor.
