LSU will receive ZERO assistance from the corrupt SEC HQ. In fact I'm quite certain they'll make every attempt to pursue whatever outcome is worse for LSU.

Knowing the SEC HQ they'll come up with some twisted logic that because Chief was still employed by LSU when committing the recruiting violation, LSU needs to be punished too.

This really is a simple breach of contract situation. Although I have not read Chief's contract, I would certainly think that every coaches contract at LSU and any other institution has a clause stating that the coach will recruit for and represent only that institution during the time of his employment. Chavis certainly breached that provision, and LSU is entitled to damages as a result. The $400,000 buyout could be used as stipulated damages for the violation. If Chavis now claims he was no longer employed by LSU at the time that he recruited for A&M, then the buyout provisions would be in effect.

Since Chief sued both LSU and A&M, it would seem that A&M promised to pay the buyout and then refused. Some A&M lawyer probably came up with the "delay departure from LSU" tactic to get around the buyout, but, as has been said, that has now backfired.

Put Chavis and A&M on the spot. They have 2 choices: 1. Admit that he was employed by A&M in January and pay LSU $400,000.00 , or 2. Admit that he was employed by LSU until Feb and be guilty of recruiting violations. Which would you choose? As part of the lawsuit, LSU's lawyers could send them discovery documents forcing them to answer these questions within 15 days. The answers would be interesting.

I would rather violations

We shouldn't even give them the choice. We should decide which option WE want and then pursue that one. I vote for sanctions.

I say do both. If the ncaa finds them guilty, use that in court to prove he owes the buyout.

Sam as if found innocent by ncaa, it means he was hired and we win the buyout case

Going on a public witch hunt to hunt down TAM does LSU no favors. They are really not on our radar at the current moment in time, and being a rat/snitch will not go well in the recruiting (and maybe coaching) circles. I would get going that far if it were Alabama, as it would be viewed much differently.

ETA: Pay us our money and go away.

It would seem to me that the photo of Chavis getting off of the Aggie jet in College Station in late December/early January would be about all LSU needs to win this case.

LSU should send him an Aggies blanket with Small Pox, see if he's been vaccinated. Nah, that might be a little drastic, nevermind.

So Chavis is suing his brand new employer. To borrow a line from Dana Carvey--"Ain't that special." Priceless--------the Tigers hang 50 on the Aggies at their next meeting.

I thinks it's conviently odd there are no Aggies representing in this post. They are usually quick to jump in when someone hits their bat signal

I don't think it matters which colors clothing he wore during January. Did he visit or contact recruits?

Seriously? The next sentence from the OP:

quote:

Yet, there are pictures of Chavis wearing Texas A&M gear while recruiting that hit the Internet Jan. 15 and Jan. 23. In the Jan. 23 photo, Chavis, dressed in a Texas A&M coaching pullover, is giving the camera two "thumbs up" while flanking Northeast Oklahoma Jr. College cornerback Justin Martin along with Aggies' defensive back coach Terry Joseph. Martin, ironically, ended up signing with Tennessee where Chavis was D-coordinator from 1995-2008 before coming to LSU.

Any aTm lawyer will be at a disadvantage versus any LSU lawyer. Why? LSU lawyers practice law in Louisiana. That should be self-explanatory.

That matter aside, it could be amusing if aTm decides to fire Chavis over this. Would serve the contract-breaching weasel right.

Chavis is tPOS and I would gladly let him keep the buyout money just so he stays away....his scheme sucked.

TigerintheNO, can you please edit your post to only include 2-3 paragraphs max from the article? We can't too much copy and pasting. Thanks
