My buddy sent me this today and it looks really cool. Hopefully it works out. I think it'll change a lot of things. Just wanted to share this.

Pretty incredible obviously, but I'm skeptical about it working even half as well as the video shows. Any guesses at how much it would cost?

I think this has a real chance to succeed. Google glasses seemed to fail because of social resistance (people feared being "spied on" so to speak) which I think caught them off guard.

I can see hololens having definite engineering applications and it seems that's the direction MS is pushing it, that and personal consumption, probably wisely so. Any evidence of facial recognition is conspicuously absent in the ad.

I agree with you. I believe schools will start to use them and even engineering or architecture firms. I thinks it's different from Google Glass. Just think, it could be the next iPhone. That would be crazy.

Forensics is another field where this will potentially find use.

And imagine designing your own personal virtual companion...

That's taking "Her" to a whole new level. And touching on the "Weird Science" level.

The actual product may have failed but the concept didn't. It blew open the doors as far as the science goes.

Its advantage over Glass is that it's meant to be worn indoors and to accomplish specific tasks. Glass was meant to be worn at all times, no matter the situation. I don't see it becoming as big or bigger than smartphones, but I can see it becoming as big as the desktop computer market in its current form.

True hololense is (would be?) a leap forward, but it can be argued it is somewhat the evolution of Kinect.

Definitely. I saw Microsoft RoomAlive which was an improvement on IllumiRoom awhile back. This seems to take that concept and make it self contained. You can watch the evolution.

Google glass was designed more as an alternative to the phone/camera as a hands free device. This is more along the lines of replacing the PC, tablet and TV. I hope this is where technology is going.

I hope this is where we are headed as well. It would be very interesting to see where technology would expand to if this becomes very popular.

SO watching "say yes to the dress" on your TV? No problem. Just put on HoloLens and you have a 60 inch TV on your wall watching the cubs win the world series

I'll believe it when I see it in action.

I'm not getting even remotely excited about any VR style system until they are actually released and have been reviewed and thoroughly tested.

If and when that actually happens, my interest might perk up.

I assume you're referring to the cubs part.
