I just don't understand why people will alienate everyone they work with to try to get ahead

Because it puts them ahead and they probably don't give 2 shits about who they work with. At the end of the day, they are worried about themselves and only themselves.

Yes. My boss rolled his eyes when he asked what level she is and said that's just because of who she knows

Because she was a secretary to the president. She told him she was tired of being a secretary so they promoted her to land and put her as a level three with no experience. And she's really fricking dumb

Life ain't fair. Someone will always have an easier road than you.
It may sound harsh, but sometimes you gotta look out for Number One. Good luck

It means watch who you cross to get ahead because you might have to answer to them one day.

What will your upcoming promotion do for you? More money & benefits, more or less work, your own office? What else?

Yikes! What you're dealing with there is a token. You will lose that fight 100% of the time. Nothing you do will trump her.

Being a top performer in the eyes of the decision makers and being interesting, converse intelligently on non work subjects, friendly demeanor and being likable to them is what separates one form the others.

If you had to give up TD for a promotion, would you do it?
