I read it 'warts'... genital warts?
There is no way in the world aggie let's the Mack family print t-shirts with the aggie thumb and the hashtag.
Anyone have a clue if trademarking a hashtag means any monies whatsoever?

The way it sounds he would not be able to make direct money from any sales while playing, but if someone else was to use the slogan and make some $$ he could then file suit for damages.... This issue was discussed years ago and considering this is the 3rd ATM player to file for trademarks, you have to wonder if this being orchestrated. Hopefully it turns out be just like the "Trill" situation.

Yep...I was just wondering also if they were owed back payments for use of the symbol for profit. If so, does it have any violation implications....aTm using a trademark of a players family for profit even if they don't pay the royalties to the owner of the trademark (players family).

This doesn't compare to JFF or Trill in any way. Hell Academy Sporting Goods was selling Addidas T-shirts with wrts/aTm as early as last summer........now a new Aggie recruit gets to profit off that????? Hmmmm

Mike Snyder coined the term and started using it in his tweets, fwiw. He may seek a settlement.
The big thing is that this school has historically gone after anyone very hard for using anything even remotely affiliated with the school. This time they do nothing???

I agree it does not compare, but wanted to show the issue with this that some thought about years ago. JFF was just the one to show us the loophole and how a player could potentially cash in on a trademark. It just feels as if the limits are being pushed at this point and eventually the NCAA will have to try something. I don't know if they would ever have the power to stop it though.

I understand. Buga kinda has the same JFF thing going. But BUGA isnt/hasn't ever been on the Clothing rack at Academy with LSU associated with it.
Mack has a trademark on a product aTm has already endorsed and profited from, now they are distancing themself from it? and the Macks own it?

Screw #wrts. Who's trademarking #wota?
Posted on 3/2/15 at 8:03 pm to BillyBobfan24_7
That may very well blow up in their face. That is the stupid gig' en thumb and school colors. Luckily, the NCAA is dead unless you are dumb enough to self report.
I will laugh when the old man sends a cease and desist to A&M in 4 years.
