It's always pretty glaring.

Just looked at bracket matrix (LINK ) and LSU moved up to a 9 seed and is on 76 of 80 brackets. Even had us come in at 6 in a few brackets.

Prove he can score and make others better on the offensive end. Multiple scouts talked to me about his inconsistent jumper and say it isn't something they consider a plus for him. Couple that with turnovers because he can't handle a double team or really pass off of a move. Once he starts his motion to attempt to score, he can not pass or adjust at all.

Coming back means a year to work on and prove that he can:
1) score in low post (other than dish offs)
2) make passes out the post / make others better
3) defend the post 1v1
4) hit mid range shots more consistently

I don't deny anything you say here except for the fact that I think he has been pretty consistent with his jumper as long as he doesn't try to extent out to the 3 point line. He has certainly been more consistent with it than Martin.

As far as...

2) make passes out the post / make others better

I think you're right, but how much of an opportunity will he get to do so at LSU? Under Jones LSU has been able to score points, but their halfcourt offense has been very inefficient. JOB struggled with this aspect for 2 years. Mickey has as well. Once the ball goes in the post there is a lot of standing around and watching by the other players. There isn't always a ton of away from the ball movement by LSU. Does this have an effect on Mickey's effectiveness in passing the ball out of the post? Just like in football when the same problems occur year after year (passing game) it can't ALWAYS just be the player.

3) defend the post 1v1

I agree as well. But would doing so probably limit his shot blocking a bit? IMO, it looks like he can be a bit lazy on 1v1 defense in an effort to set up the offensive player for a shot block. LSU thrives off of his shot blocking on both sides of the ball. Even with Mickey in the game teams have been able to get to the goal pretty regularly. Mickey has just served as the deterrent/eraser. On offense, there have been a ton of occasions where one of his blocks serves as the first "pass" on a run out. Does Jones want to potentially limit that by putting more emphasis on Mickey playing maybe a more fundamentally sound type of D?

Regardless of what people want or what they say about him, it's the guys who will be drafting him that matter. They don't think his shot is consistent enough for the NBA. They notice he does not even LOOK TO PASS (he hasn't proved he can even make the pass if he does either) when he is making a move. And yes, Johnny would love for him to not allow average to below average (and often undersized) bigs to go right around him and lay it in. Everyone would love that, especially scouts.

early in the season I thought

Mickey = goner
martin = 1 more year

now it is completely opposite. Mickey needs to get stronger and work on his court vision when passing out of double teams, as well as recognizing them sooner. He's gonna have to put the ball on the floor in the NBA. Anytime he does, its a turnover waiting to happen. He needs to work on his on ball post defense.

take away his off ball shot blocking ability and nobody would even be having this conversation. He is an exciting basketball player but needs a ton of work unless he wants to live in Greece for the entirety of his career

When Mickey gets doubled, he spazzes out and usually turns it over with a bad pass or takes a bad shot

Jumpshots can be improved in the NBA. Anthony Davis was shooting 33% above the elbows as a Rookie and is now shooting near 55%. With the right coaches Mickey can definetly improve his jumpshot once he makes it to the next level.

LSU guards for the week; A/TO 37/9 is outstanding. Playing like that this week will likely garner two more victories for the Tigers. Had not held much hope of winning at Bud Walton until this past weekend. The Tigers A-game is slightly better than the Hawgs A-game IMO. Just have to bring it after they take care of business at home against the Vols.

2nd Rounders don't get the time to fix it he had... That's the thing. He doesn't provide enough that a NBA team would want to warrant NBA time while working on it.

I see what you're saying, but AD is only in his 3rd year. I don't see why a GM or Coach wouldn't see the potential and give him 1-2 years to improve it.

definitely a refreshing feeling to say it and mean it. We know he can recruit so to see coaching get better is awesome.

It now appears that there was no lack of coaching. It was just a period of adjustment for a young team. The passing/assits are so much sharper or more precise.

Hornsby has been an unsung beast. Just watching the intensity that he plays at is wild. His defense has been just great and he finally has the confidence to shoot his shot when open.
