I'm looking for a little help from the NELA contingent here...

Every time I used to venture back to the holy land, I would make a special request for someone to have a quart of Slayden's potato salad waiting for me. Does anyone have their recipe by chance?

I don't have it but you can buy it. Along with the brisket, pork, chicken and bean recipes. And the building and parking lot.

Oh they're still open, just for sale. You can still get some tater salad. I had some Friday. But you better hurry before Strop City dries up and blows away

Does the night crew have any insight on this recipe?

Balls made me want to make a trek to the Mecca around lunch time.

Can't help, Pirate. It is good, but I haven't had it in a couple of years.

If I was to make a run at it, the texture is the biggest twist...about as smooth as mashed potatoes. So I'd start there, add mayo, mustard, a little relish, salt, garlic powder and pepper. I can't remember if it has any egg or not.

Yeah, my old man is one of them. He's got a sweet gig there while drawing his pension from IP these days.

Otis:
Sounds like you've got it covered. We just need to figure out the ratios.

Yep. I think it's old school seasoning with a mashed potato texture. Would make a wicked drunk taste testing in June around a pit an' pool.

Sounds like a plan! I will see if Balls can figure out the recipe between now and then so we can attempt to make our own around his pool.

I might can get it. I'm a pretty valued customer there. If I had to guess though it would be something along these lines:

-Some mashed arse Potatoes. Like really mashed/whipped potatoes
-Mustard
-Mayo
-Dill Relish
-finely diced onions and celery

Slayden's is pretty solid. But they're not really reinventing the culinary wheel over there

Why are you so nuts for a whipped potato salad.

Either traditional style with chunks of potatoes and texture , or German style.

Whipped potato salad sucks.
