That blows my mind, especially when there are yeild signs turning onto the roundabout. It is really very simple to navigate.

I've never had one issue on lsu's roundabouts.

Unfortunately for us, our river is gigantic.

This somehow wasn't a problem for St. Louis, Davenport/Rock Island/Moline area, and the Twin Cities.

Yeah, because the river is the same size/volume in those cities as it is through Baton Rouge.

It's not even so much the size of the river, but the fact that any crossing of it south of the Old Bridge in BR (or South of Exxon) has to be high enough in clearance to allow ocean going vessels (tankers) to pass underneath. Building such bridges is a much more involved (and expensive) endeavor than those in St. Louis, Davenport, or the TWin Cities.

Almost got in a wreck at the one on Dalrymple this morning. The driver in front of me slammed on their brakes and came to a complete stop before entering the roundabout, despite there not being another car anywhere in sight.

Such a simple concept that so many people seem completely unable to grasp.

Yup, also a major factor.

I think the higher volume/long radius roundabouts (like Nicholson/Burbank would have to be) are a different ballgame. I lived in Portsmouth NH for a while and we had a traffic circle at the intersection of the I-95 exit ramp, US-1, and a liquor store. We called it "The Portsmouth Death Trap", especially when we had to head that way to re-stock on liquor at 9PM.

Also, they take their state motto "Live Free or Die" quite literally.

The DOTD and Green light program is building a $55 million on ramp/off ramp at Pecue. They have ample money to waste millions on a ramp there, that will be located less than a mile between 2 other I10 exits, but yet no money to attempt to do anything about traffic on the bridge.

God forbid they are actually proactive once. That area is blowing up, and will look completely different in 5 years.

The channel in St Louis is nowhere near as wide as in Baton Rouge.

With that money, five projects will get kickstarted back to life. One of those projects is Nicholson Widening from Lee Drive to Burbank (I think...it was in the Advocate last week).

Article in the advocate said the Nicholson widening won't start until 2019.

Baton Rouge drivers + roundabout = lots of accidents while local drivers learn how to navigate one of these.

I'm pretty sure roundabouts have been proven to be much safer than traditional intersections.

Dude, the ramp at Pecue is definitely needed. No waste there.

Also notable, land secured but no updates recently(probably because it is very pie in the sky)
