For me, it was Jackie Gleason...I laughed at everything he did. My big regret is not trying to meet him him when he was in Baton Rouge filming The Toy.

current has to be Louis CK, and I can't choose just one "past" one (assuming dead or I guess retired from standup or similar work) Carlin is def up there though. as is Pryor.
eta: moving away from standup, there are a lot of great humorists/comic actors to choose from too. I agree with poster above re: Gleason.
eta2: is Oswalt actually funny? I saw him mentioned a few times. The last time i tried to watch him it was all bad political hack junk that i can't stand. he was funny on king of queens though.

Past is Pryor/Carlin 1a and 1b
Current is probably Brian Regan (and I don't know why, just is.)
(I am limiting this to strictly stand-up - if we are talking about comedic actors/comedians IOW -the whole range, past is probably close between Jack Benny and Jackie Gleason - current is probably Bill Murray).

80's: Eddie Murphy. Delirious & Raw were two of the funniest things I've ever watched. Too bad Eddie died after the Beverly Hills Cop movies.
I liked Carlin a lot more once he hit his philosophical stride.
90's: Hedburg/Hicks/Carlin
00's: Carlin. Eddie Griffin, sometimes.
Now: Louis CK, Gaffigan

And I'll say it: I never liked Robin Williams doing stand up. Ever. It was just never funny to me. Like several of his movies......just not stand up.
