1. I was waiting for one of our gun nuts to point this out.

2. It's a show. The characters don't necessarily know gun safety. Carol sure would not, and given what she is trying to pull off, would act as if she didn't even if she did.

I wonder what the ceiling stain(running down the wall) is in the Monroe living room? Might be Deanne husband after a bite.

I didn't even notice that before. I bet they leave us wondering.

I've noticed the non-nonchalant way they've handled where their firearms are pointing as well, but Carol is a bit different in that hers could well have been an intentional mistake.

When Carol takes off her rifle, she fumbles with it like she's unused to it and is acting very school-girl shy about it. Carol is one of the best survivors in that group, she knows how to handle a firearm.

In her interview she reminisces fondly about her husband and how she misses him. She doesn't miss him, he was abusive as shite to her and completely neglected their daughter. She then asks if there's some sort of civic league she could join to help out.

She is not only playing the innocent extremely well, she was the first to change clothes and accept a job assignment with apparent relish. She's working exceedingly hard to get the other residents to believe she's naive and has completely bought into whatever they may be selling.

To me, everything she does that's a mistake is questionable.

Interesting. You can't zoom in very far.

Not only are the braces outside, but once you go in the gate and look to the right you'll see a tall tower that's outside the fence. Anyone with even a modicum of sense would either but that inside the fence or tear it down as it would be a massive safety issue. The designer was either going for aesthetics or he was a shitty designer, or the wall was originally to serve some other purpose.

These design issues make it look more like it's all been built to keep people in rather than to keep anyone/thing out.

Yep. And they tried to tell Rick that they've been pretty shielded but those 2 houses right outside the gate have been burnt to shite. Lots of mystery around this place.

Man, me and a buddy are discussing this episode and I'm thinking this has to be a top 5 episode. Maybe best ever. The more we talk about it, the better it gets. So much stuff in this episode.

I thought that also, but there is a view of the tower and companion building(church?) that looks burned out. Perhaps the tower acted as a chimney and all that is left is the exterior structure.

These references to time are particularly odd in the zombie apocalypse, where time has little meaning. All the way back in Season 1 of The Walking Dead, Dale (Jeffrey DeMunn) was asked why he bothered to keep track of time. He replied with a story from William Faulkner.

“I like what the father said to the son when he gave him a watch that had been handed down through generations. He said: ‘I give you a mausoleum of all hope and desire which will fit your individual needs, no better than it did mine and my father before me. I give it to you not that you may remember time, but that you may forget it. For a moment, now and then, and not spend all of your breath trying to conquer it.'”

Someone with a very sharp eye at The Spoiling Dead Fans realized this quote holds the titles of all of this season’s Walking Dead episodes set in Alexandria, in chronological order (bolded for reference): “Remember,” “Forget,” “Spend,” “Trying,” and “Conquer.”

That's pretty cool. I think all of these nods to Dale just tie in to the fact they have found some semblance of civilization where they can stop being animals fighting to survive. Dale was the groups moral compass early on. I believe he once said he didn't want to live in a want to world without civility...right before a zombie ate his guts out.

This episode was great, I agree top 5, maybe even the best. Something about a good balance of all the elements, not too many dumb moves by the people (I guess), and great depiction of their problems adjusting to normalcy.

It would be incredibly dumb of them to do that. They would actually lose viewers. Plus that severely weakens the group. They have to just be trolling. Now, I could see them killing Glenn, Maggie or Carol.

I think they are. He wasn't. He just responded honestly and then ET ran with it. But obviously something is gonna go down. They show that pic of him. He looks to be crying. That would only be because of Carol. Besides, haven't glenn and poor maggie suffered enough?

I would put it in my top 6.

If I had to rank my top 6 it would be.

1.) Days Gone Bye (Pilot)
2.) No Sanctuary (Season 5 premiere, escape from Terminus)
3.) Pretty Much Dead Already (Season 2 mid-season finale, Sophie Barn reveal).
4.) Clear (Rick goes back to Morgan)
5.) The Grove (Look at the flowers with Carol and Ty)
6.) Remember

Zero chance they do that, unless Reedus is making exorbitant demands. It is he, not Rick, causing the snail trails.
