It's not really a big deal. There was no question that he would restructure if necessary (he gets paid most of that $12m up front, regardless if it's a roster bonus or a "signing bonus." Also, there are a ton of instances in which it would have automatically converted to a signing bonus. There are 12 requirements in the CBA that make this conversion automatic, and 3 or 4 very likely could apply to Junior. The fine print of his contract was never released, so there's a lot of speculation about it, but I've never seen someone get a $5m+ roster bonus that wasn't prorated. That was never going to be the case.

Well, the real reason Im excited is because we are finally making moves. This is just the beginning.

The month or so before FA starts is the worst part of the year. Now that time is closing and we can start looking at who we can sign and then who we are likely to draft.

It's a big deal insofar as it discredits all those reports that claimed that CSP wanted Galette out of New Orleans.
No reason to restructure a guy on his way out.

To me, the worst part of the year is easily the break between the draft and training camp.

Still waiting... At what point can we call this BS. 24 hours? A week? I mean eventually he will restructure or get cut we all know that. What is the time frame for receiving credit for breaking a story?

or get cut

Cutting him was never an option. It would put us in a REALLY bad spot capwise either this season or the next, depending on how they cut him. It would only save about $1.5m this season if he were a post June 1 designated cut.
