There isn't one. Hell, where's a truly good Cajun place in Houston period? It's a joke considering how many Louisianans live here.

I only drive out that far when I'm heading to Austin. Back in my day, that was all pasture.

That's understandable but might be a little but biased. I don't have a problem with bias in general except it can lead to untrue conclusions. My mother is liberal as can be. I still talk with her about issues and I found she had amazing conclusions. I told her one time in a joking fashion "your a lot more conservative than you think ," and it was true. That opened my mind up. I'm someone who people automatically assume that I'm on the "other side". It gets really old really quick when everyone assumes your the enemy for really not agreeing whole heartedly with ever issue to the extreme. Bias can help shape generalizations but they aren't the rule.

Admittedly, I've never heard one of his standup routines, but I've heard this guy was great... Someone post a link to one or your favorites for someone who's never listened to him

I think he was one of the building blocks. I've only heard a little bit of his stuff. After hearing modern stuff, he isn't revolutionary, but at the time, he was cutting edge. I think.

I can listen to Pryor and Carlin all day. And only laugh a few times. They had style and were edgy and all that, but they weren't all that funny to me.

Pryor was hilarious. Loved his stuff much better than Eddie Murphy.

Richard Pryor's stand up routine was extremely vulgar back in the day compared to others at the the time. You're right. In current times, you have any comedian male or female talking about whatever. It just wasn't like that back then, and Pryor's routine would get some jaws to drop and eyes to open. It wasn't so much that what he was saying was hysterically funny, but you couldn't believe he was saying it. That is why his comedy seemed so much funnier back then than it does now.
Same thing with Eddie Murphy, Andrew Dice Clay, etc,

I don't find Carlin the least bit funny and never have. He annoys the frick out of me actually and I think he is highly overrated.

Love Carlin and Pryor but for different reason

Carlin called out the stupidity of life, both substantial and mundane

Pryor is a legend in storytelling and social commentary. I cannot imagine being so raw and poignant .

Right. They're great story tellers, they were raw, they were showmen...but just not that funny. Same with Eddie Murphy. Same with Dice Clay, who is awful IMO.
