Westbrook got hit in the face last night towards the end of the 4th last night. He's being evaluated and could miss some time. Pels need to keep up this streak and take that spot

No, he plays for a team we are fighting for the 8 seed, thus it's relevance here.

I don't see a face injury making anyone sit for any significant time

doesn't sound like the case here. he won't be gone long. might only miss one game

quote:

Russell Westbrook (face) won't miss much time due to his facial surgery on Saturday, according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports.

"If he had a playoff game [on Sunday], he could play," the report added. As mentioned 30 minutes ago, Westbrook is going to be re-evaluated later this week due to surgery on the zygomatic arch on his right cheek, so he sounds like he could actually play on Wednesday against the 76ers

I assume those face masks are some sort of hard acrylic and protect fairly well if the concern is further injury.

Some expert that ESPN brought in suspected that he will probably be out for a week.

How this injury does or does not effect him really depends on his mental state.
He's a drive the lane in heavy traffic kind of guy. If there's any part of him that is hesitant about re-injury, it might bring his game down a level.
