As a former server I base my tips on service. I know about greet times, checkbacks, etc. If you a good server and provide good to great service 25% and if you suck 10-15% or if you really suck < 10%

Bartenders usually make more per hour than waitstaff. Plus tip outs for drinks made.

Yeah, and I was explaining why. More oppourtunites, more money and a better average.

I usually tip a high percentage if I'm out by myself (because 15% is only going to be a couple of bucks at the most and that sucks.)

If it's a larger bill because I'm out with more than one person, I'll do 15-20%, higher if the waitress is cute.

I didn't tip the bartender a couple of nights ago. I got one beer, asked her if she could clean up this drink this girl spilled. she threw the bar towel down on the bar and expected me to clean it up. I closed my tab and left. Didn't tip. If you are going to be a rude bitch, I will take my money elsewhere.

I just double the first number. So $40 bill is $8 tip.

Unless they automatically add gratuity, then that's what they get.

At a bar, I typically tip a buck or two each drink.

Absolutley.

I picked up dinner tab last night for 10 of us.
1k tab... I tipped 150.

Guy was a tad obnoxious and rushed us the whole night.
I have good Exp account and could've tipped him 25% should I have chosen to.
With me I give back what a waiter gives me jn service.
Fwiw I actually enjoy tipping well for good service. Have zero problem tipping shitty for less than acceptable service.

I waited tables a couple years. 99% tipped at least something. Blacks were atrocious tippers. It's like they took pride in tipping $3 off a $100 check. If the hostess was pissed at you, she'd seat you all the black customers and you could be sure your take home would be 50% of a normal night.

I always tip. Usually pretty well. I used to leave one of these on the table but only have one left.

I tip, if they do a decent job. I even tip on takeout if it's ready when I get there and it's corect. My wife gets very picky with stuff.

I like to say I am up with the times. I dig that song for some reason. The OT keeps my edge sharp also. My teens can't pull shite by me

We stopped eating at tables ages ago, since service here is just fricking atrocious.. and always eat at the bar .. But lately, I guess the best of the suck arse wait staff are getting promoted to bartender .. Service is getting spotty at bars now ..

What's with the bartenders disappearing for 10 to 15 minutes at a time now?

Why shouldn't food or drink be priced so that employees get paid a decent wage for what they do and not have to depend on tips? That way you know up front what the meal is going to cost you.
I hate tipping. Price a decent wage into the meal!
