Please don't focus on the beer tasted. Just curious if people can really tell the difference.

Went to a crawfish boil tonight and had a taste test of Covington Strawberry and Abita Strawberry. 4 people, blind taste test and 4 out of 4 got it right. Everyone was familiar with both beers.

Luck, or not?

I'd rather taste test a dogs butthole and a cats butthole.

Don't fruit my beer, bro! I get it. Should I have used coke/pepsi to get an answer?

I agree, there is a difference. Do you think you can spot it in a blind taste test?

The reason I ask is there used to be a regular thread about people preferring certain product over other product and when it came down to it, 90% couldn't tell the difference in a blind taste. So I'm just curious.

Nope. Too broad a brush there...I'll drop a slice of citrus in a crappy Messican beer.

Got to do something to cut the urine.

They probably tasted the difference because Covington Strawberry is terrible.

We did a taste test a couple of years ago (not blind) and decided that Abita's tasted more like real strawberries, while Covington tasted like It was artificially flavored

I don't know what products you're talking about here but you don't have to have a sophisticated palate to taste the difference between the Covington and Abita. One is remarkably sweeter than the other. The Covington almost tastes like Nestle strawberry syrup.

They taste very different. If you can't tell, you've probably had too much already

This. Most people should be able to tell the difference between the two, but I'd bet a good amount of them don't really know why. The difference in the two is that Covington strawberry is an ale while Abita is a lager. Ales are typically "fruitier" and bolder in taste, perhaps in this case you could say covington's flavor tastes more "concentrated," while lagers are usually lighter in body and tend to have a more "crisp" feel/finish.
