Phil Jackson: True championship contenders reach 40 wins before 20 losses

The teams this year who are championship contenders:
Golden State: 45-11
Atlanta: 46-12
Memphis: 41-16
Houston: 40-18
The only other team with a shot is Portland. They are 37-19. They need 3 wins in a row or they're out.

Last year rockets were 39-19 at this point in the season. Slightly better. Just can't falter late in the season.

The Rockets are an anomaly. They challenge hard in the first round every year. The year we break through without injuries, the league is fricked. Hell last time we got to the second round, Yao went down (and T-Mac was already down), and we pushed the Lakers harder than any team in the playoffs.
