I'm not going to dispute the master.

At least I was in the ballpark with my - completely from the hip asking price.

(But, I'm unlikely to ever own a C3 - it's my least favorite generation - so maybe that's my estimate was so low.)

I disagree.

There may be spikes and valleys in prices, but collector cars are considered an excellent investment.

The OP does not have a particularly rare car, but he has a 4 speed AC car in red and they will always have a following.

I would bet it will at least keep up with inflation, plus it's actually fun.

Don't drive one, it will somewhat kill the alure IMO.

The split rear window is a huge blind spot, and with drum brakes up front it doesn't stop for squat.

A bunch of people cut the bar out.

There was a company selling kits so buyers could restore the "split".

VG - what would a fully restored, 1959, in red and white run me today? Would it be remotely under $100k?

My gut says a #3, non FI car could maybe be had for that.

A #1 car, probably way more.

Yeah - not one of those things that gets more reasonable with time.

And, while we're talking here, remember the contest where they gave away 1 from each year? I actually entered that thing. The winner sold them to a crazy German-born NY artist who let them rot for 15 years - then the were "rediscovered" and disappeared/reappeared again.

Crazy story - if anyone on here knew about it, I figured it was you.

This is a 2010 story-

Depends... Matching numbers, single carb, dual quads, F.I., powerglide , 4speed, etc

I remember the Jim Cahill part, I didn't know the rest of it.

Thanks Ace.

IIRC, the holy grail of Stingray's in the 1970 model.

I believe the "holy grail" would be the 1967 with the 427 fuel injected big block. The 1970 model is a desirable model - basically anything pre-1973 is good. In 73 the EPA requirements went into effect and robbed a lot of the power its predecessors had.

There was not a FI option for 67, or any Big Block for that matter. '65 was the last year with the L84 327. As VG stated the grail for production cars would be the 69 ZL1, then the 67,68,69 L88's.

The ultimate grail would be the Grand Sport and' 68 L88's that raced at LeMans.

What condition is the chrome in? Is red the original color? Or was it something else from the factory?

I have a 71 stingray 350 4 speed matching #'s Original everything but hood, new paint, interior
needs a little work runs good. Looking to sale was
wondering what is a good starting price to ask.

With C3's, the condition of the birdcage is everything. Any rust around the windshield frame?

Interior, undercarriage, engine bay picture?

Hagerty.com their valuation is determined by looking at auction, dealer, and private sales and determining a aggregate value. I have a family member that collects corvettes, he has 17-20 at any given time, as he sells and trades to constantly improve the collection.
