Make sure you supervise the pup and the old dog till they get to know each other. Crates would be a good idea here - at least for the new pup. If the old dog isn't territorial all should be well.

We have the same thing. 2 year old Doberman and 7 year old Pug. If I put one bone in front of them, the doberman just walks away. He knows who runs it. So hilarious! I think he will always see the pug as the alpha.ha
The doberman being so energetic has def helped our pug get/stay healthy. Makes him more around more....even if its just to snap at him and get him away so he can sleep.lol
But sometimes they can be friends:)

We did it, and I'm convinced it added at least a year to our old man. He was definitely the alpha but she seemed to crave that relationship. He would bark at her for doing something before we could.

Other than her potty training faster, he didn't really teach her much. But they definitely loved each other and were happy to have one another.
