Some of these modern day Da Vincis read from right to left

You realize that this only applies to what is inside of the parentheses right? After you add 2+1, it besomes for all intents and purposes, 6/2*3. Left to right. Answer is 9

The way it is written is a very common way to write a math problem.
2(2+1) is very common, more common than 2x(2+1) as math professors do not like to use "x" as a form of multiplication in a problem because "x" is also the most common way to write as a variable.

Yeah I'm with ya and since those are the 2 ways this would actually be written, this is fricking dumb.
I agree that if some dumb fricker wrote it like this, it is 9.

I hope you're joking...
We all agree up to the point where it's 6/2(3).
P = INSIDE parentheses, so how can you do 2(3) before 6/2? The only thing inside parentheses is the 3.
E
DM - divide/multiply from left to right... 6/2 = 3, 3(3) = 9

It's actually (P/E)(M/D)(A/S) but I'll blame your 4th grade teacher for not explaining it to you correctly.

The structure of the equation is unclear due to the linear constraints of the typed sentence - in the event of this occurrence a tie is broken by going from left to right.
One could say 9 or 6
We've seen this before, though - technically - 9 is the more correct answer
First = (2+1) = 3
Then = 6/2 = 3
Leaving = 3*3 = 9
Using the proper tie breaker

Eta. Damn you teacher for embarrassing me right now! It's 9 according to the MD being equals and going left to right.

That's not how math works. If we're talking limits or variables with exponentials, etc. there can be more than one answer but not for the given equation.

1 and 9 are both correct answers.
