Did this thread last year and thought it went pretty well... Heres last years thread: LINK

Everyone likes to talk about the big name players and 1st round picks, for obvious reasons. But you build your team with the mid / late round picks, UDFA, etc and find some great value for cheap. Here are some guys that could be good players and you can get them late in the draft or even as an UDFA.

QBs
Brandon Bridge- South Alabama. 6'4, 229lbs, 4.72 40yard dash. 33"vert. 9'11broad jump.
Pros- Big athletic QB with a big arm and a lot of potential. Project QB who could become a good starter in a few years.
Cons-Wildly inaccurate. RAW. Needs coaching very bad.

Shane Carden
- ECU. 6'2,218lbs. 4.94 40. Highlights
Pros - Extremely prolific and productive college player. 63.5%, 4736yards. 30TDs, 10 INTs. Solid athleticism with with scramble ability. High IQ and fearless in pocket. Quick release. Leader.
Cons- Not great size. Decent arm, not elite. Needs fine tuning with his mechanics. Needs to go to the right system.

Jake Waters - Kansas St. 6'1, 204lbs. DNP @ Combine. Highlights
Pros- 65.9% for 3501 yards, 22 TDs, 7INTs and 484yards rushing with 9 TDs. Efficient QB. Athletic with quick feet and release. Scramble ability. Very smart QB with high IQ. Takes what D gives him and wont force a ball. Best intangibles out of all QBs. Leader. Tough as nails. Not afraid to sit in the pocket and take a hit.
Cons - Undersized. Inconsistent with his throwing motion mechanics and release point.

Sean Mannion- Oregon St. 6'6 229lbs. Highlights
Pros-66.3% for 4,662yards. 37 TDs, 15INTs his JR year. 4 year starter in a pro style offense with a huge arm. True pocket passer.
Cons - Not mobile. Struggled when he had pressure in his face. Up and down college career but showed flashes of NFL potential.
----------------------------------------------
Running Backs

David Johnson - Northern Iowa. 6'1, 224lbs. 4.50 40dash. 41.5" vert. 10'5broad, 25reps. Highlights Highlights II
Pros- Back to back 1,000 yard rusher + at least 38receptions. Physical specimen that looks the part and tested really well at combine. Great size and speed combo. Best RB @ Senior Bowl. Great productivity. Rare pass catching ability with that size, similar to a Matt Forte or Leveon Bell in that aspect. Natural pass catcher, former WR, talk that he could play WR in the NFL. 1 cut and up the field runner.
Cons- Little shake / wiggle. Level of competition is a question. Stock is rising, might be gone by the 4th.

Jeremy Langford- Michigan St. 6'0, 208lbs, 4.42 40dash. 34.5"vert. Highlights
Pros - Athletic and versatile. Played CB, WR, and RB at Michigan St. Big improvement from 2013 to 2014 as a RB. Good feet and burst to turn the corner. Has big play ability, 22 carries of 15+ yards in 2014. Good balance and can catch out the backfield. Solid in pass protection. Special Teams.
Cons- Not too physical. Struggles in between the tackles. Absorbs the contact instead of dishing it. Always looking to bounce it outside. Solid in pass protection but can give ground to bigger players. 3rd down back.

Terrence Magee- LSU. 5'8 213lbs. 37" vert. 22reps. Highlights
Pros - Averaged 6.2ypc over his final 2 years at LSU. Best pass blocking RB in the draft. Versatile player (QB in HS, WR sophomore year at LSU). Contributes in a lot of ways and doesnt need the ball to contribute. Low center of gravity, runs through arm tackles and can get underneath defenders pads and drive them back. Solid burst through the line, balance, agility. Can play all special teams. Solid all around. Tough, leadership, high character guy. Awarded #18 at LSU which goes to a player that has overcome adversity, hardworker, leader, etc.
Cons -Average athlete. Rotational guy at LSU, which is what he will be in the NFL at best. Limited upside.

Josh Robinson
- Miss St. 5'8, 217lbs. 4.70 40dash. 21reps. 32" vert. Highlights
Pros - Very productive last year at Miss St. Catch out the backfield. Tough to tackle. Built and is very similar to Magee, which is odd because they played together in High School at Franklinton.
Cons - Average athlete with limited upside. Benefited from playing in a zone read scheme with Dak Prescott at QB.

Matt Jones- Florida. 6'2, 231lbs. 4.61 40dash. 31.5"vert. 20reps. Highlights
Pros - Big, strong kid that looks the part. Good size + athleticism combo. Powerful north / south runner.

Dangerous out the backfield. Tenacious on the football field. Hard worker and willing to do whatever is asked of him. Nicknamed "Taz" because hes a non stop worker. Can play special teams.
Cons - Runs a bit upright. Stiff hips and flexibility. Not too much. Low level competition. High workload.

Wide Receivers

Tyler Lockett - Kansas St. 5'10, 182lbs. 4.40 40dash. 33.5"vert. Highlights Highlights II
Pros - 4x All American. Broke all of his fathers records at Kansas St(leader in catches, yards, TDs). Had 187recs, 2,777yards, 22 TDs in final 2 years. Extremely fast and polished WR. Can cut at top speed and not slow down. Elite start / stop and change of direction.Willing blocker. Elite return man, had 21returns for 488yards and 2 TDs final year. Has an "It" factor. Steps up in big games and moments, extremely competitive. Very high character. Film rat. Football is in his blood, he loves it. 1 of my favorites in the entire draft.
Cons - Slight build. Could struggle vs big CBs in press coverage. Might have to be a slot WR.

Justin Hardy- ECU. 5'10, 192lbs. 4.56 40dash. 36.5"vert. 10" hands. Highlights Highlights II
Pros - Former walk on who became FBS all time leader in catches. Very polished. Knows how to get open and sit in soft spots of coverage. Very good at selling routes with body fakes. Good depth in his routes and comes back to the ball. Great ball skills, attacks the ball in the air. Solid hands. Good footwork and can adjust to the ball in the air really well. Loves to work the middle of the field. High IQ, willing blocker, and has returned punts.
Cons - Wont blow past defenders. Not an elite athlete. Thin lower body.

Tre McBride -William and Mary. 6'0, 210lbs. 4.41 40dash. 38" vert. 10'1broad. Highlights
Pros - Strong build with great athleticism. Fearless WR across the middle and in the air. Puts his body on the line. Ridiculous ball skills, body control, and catch radius. Plucks the ball out the air. Routinely makes circus catches that make your jaw drop. Return ability. High potential.
Cons - Despite running a 4.41, he sometimes doesnt play that fast and struggles to separate from DBs. Raw route runner. Can be knocked off balance and his route.

Darren Waller - Georgia Tech. 6'6, 238lbs. 4.46 40dash. 37"vert. Highlights
Pros - Elite size + speed combo. Knows his big and plays big. Boxes out defenders with body. Jump ball / fade master. High points the ball and goes up and gets it, always over the DB. Very smooth runner. Fearless with good hands.
Cons - Not quick off the line. Struggles with start / stop ability or change of direction. Straight line speed, laterally. Raw route runner, only ran a few limited routes in college. Weak effort blocking. Needs to improve understanding of route concepts, leverage, and how to separate.

Chris Conley
- UGA. 6'2, 213lbs. 4.35 40dash. 45" vert. 11'5 broad.
Pros - Combine surprise. FREAK athlete with good size. Smooth runner. Good at breaking in and out of his routes and can create separation. Played in an NFL system.
Cons - Not a complete route runner. Struggles when press covered by a strong and physical CB. Not a physical player.
----------------------------------------------

Tight Ends
Jean Sifrin - UMASS. 6'5, 245lbs. 4.84 40dash. 33" vert. 9'5broad. Highlights
Pros - Great size + athleticism. Basketball background. Great catch radius. Natural pass catcher. Quick release into his routes, good fakes to create separation. Lots of potential and very new to football. 42catches, 642yards and 6 TDs only year at UMASS.
Cons - 27years old. High school drop out, earned GED to work and support his girlfriend and son. Noticed by a ASA College scout while playing basketball. Went there, got kicked out "for something he didnt do". Went Community College then went to UMASS. Little experience. Thinks too much on the field, making him play slower than he is.

Wes Saxton - South Alabama. 6'3, 248lbs. 4.65 40dash. 36"vert. 9'9 borad.
Pros - Great frame with broad shoulders. Very athletic. Great burst. Catcher well in traffic. WR in H.S. Tough to bring down with ball in hands and is a mismatch, too fast and athletic for LBers, too big for DBs. Could be a Marcel Reece type of H-Back player.
Cons - Not a in-line TE. Raw route runner, relied on athleticism. Questions about his willingness to block.

Cameron Clear - TAMU. 6'5, 277lbs. 4.98 40dash. 32"vert.
Pros - Very big with good athleticism and talent. Solid as both a blocker and WR. Can play Special Teams. Could add more weight and become OT.
Cons - Kicked out of Tennessee for theft. Went JUCO, then TAMU. Struggled to get playing time and consistent production despite being talented and skilled with size.

Transferred to Norfolk St, put in the work, improved each year and added on weight. 2013 FCS Defensive POY. Versatile, 3-4 OLB or 4-3 DE. Good flexibility, plays with great leverage for being so tall. Freakishly smooth and athletic when dropping into coverage, not supposed to be that big and be able to move and flip his hips like that. Fluid. Quick off the snap. Improved a lot the last 2 years and not near his peak, potential is as high as anyone in the draft. Has played DE, OLB, TE, and gunner on punt team at Norfolk. Cons - Very raw. Not that instinctive and issues recognizing the play. Footwork can be an issue as times, so can angles. Better athlete than football player at the moment, but he has big time upside if he can get it right.

Edmond Robinson
- Newberry. 6'3, 245lbs. 4.61 40dash, 37"broad. 34" arm length.

Jake Ryan - Michigan. 6'2, 240lbs. 4.65 40dash. 34.5" vert.
Pros - Versatile. Has played ever LB spot. Very productive. Shows good burst to the ball and is a solid tackler. Better zone coverage than man, but decent at man. Leadership and effort. Film rat. Can play Special Teams.

Kwon Alexander - LSU. 6'1, 227lbs. 4.55 40dash. 36"vert. 24reps.
Pros - Very athletic LB that can run and hit. Very good change of direction and acceleration. Plays bigger than he is. Didnt blitz too much in college, but was pretty good at it when he did. Solid in pass coverage. Tough kid with high character.
Cons - Size. Wasted motion at times and can overrun plays. Needs to use his eyes better and trust his reads. Awareness. Can get caught looking in backfield and bite on play action fakes.

Zach Hodges - Harvard. 6'2, 250lbs. 4.68 40dash. 33.5"vert. 10'4broad. Highlights

Can play special teams. Very high character. Mentally tough and has overcome a lot, lost both his parents at age 10 and battled some serious injuries.
Cons - Injuries. Micro-fracture surgery in November. Had a rare hereditary brain condition which required surgery in 2011. To his credit, hes overcome all of it. Inconsistent diagnosing plays, slow to drop into coverage.Very talented player, just has had injuries and has overcome all of them.

Defensive Backs
Charles Gaines - Louisville. 5'10, 180lbs. 4.44 40dash. 34.5"vert
Pros - Was a WR coming out of high school and you can see it when hes playing DB. Unique feel and understanding of passing concepts and routes. Great anticipation. Quality cover skills, mirrors WR. Underneath coverage skills are best in this class. Really good start / stop ability and change of direction. Really explodes out of his backpedal. Excellent at reading a QB and is not fooled by play action or route fakes by WR. Fast. High instincts and very opportunistic. Confident and lets the opponent hear it. Very competitive. CB2 / slot CB.
Cons - Size and frame. Struggles vs bigger WRs and against the long ball. Plays outside of the WR too often and can get beat on quick slants, posts, crosses. Not physical in run support.

Craig Mager - Texas St. 5'11, 201lbs. 4.44 40dash. 38"vert. 10'8 broad.
Pros - Very productive 4 year starter. Quick player with great burst and ability to start /stop on a dime. Solid hips and can change direction. Great burst out of his backpedal and drives through the WR, ends up breaking up more passes by doing this. Active feet and very good ball skills. Can locate the ball, time his jump and high point it. Standout at the East / West Shrine game. Has returned punts. Plays with a lot of passion and fire. Loves contact. Very competitive. High motor with high character.
Cons - Can be over aggressive at times, commits too quickly on 1st move and ends up getting beat on the double move. Average instincts. Needs to get better at reading plays and anticipating.

Gerod Holliman - Louisville. 6'0, 218lbs. Highlights
Pros - Outstanding production in 2014. 17passes defender with 14 INTs, picked off Winston twice. Best instincts and ball skills in this class. Knows how to bait QBs into a throw and makes them pay. Very smooth back pedal with fluid hips. Playmaker with that 6th sense where its like he knows where the ball is going. Understands routes and concepts. Big hits. Hes a true Free Safety, but has experience playing slot CB.
Cons - 1 year wonder with production. Risk taker and undisciplined. Tends to sit on PA a bit too long. Bad open field tackling. Lack of urgency or effort in run support and in pursuit. Questions about his effort, competitiveness, football character.

Doran Grant - Ohio St. 5'10, 200lbs. 4.44 40dash. 33"vert. 21reps.
Pros - Versatile player that physically looks the part. Solid in press coverage and has good hands. Can force WRs off routes. Smart player that is rarely fooled. Decent burst. Breaks down in the open field and rarely misses a tackle. Can play Special Teams.
Cons - Shorter for an outside CB, might have to move to slot CB. Heavy footed when hes not in press coverage, hesitant and waits too long to break. Might be a system CB.

Lorenzo Doss - Tulane. 5'10, 182lbs. 4.50 40dash. 33.5"vert.
Pros - Smooth, natural CB. Very polished in his backpedal, change of direction, etc. No wasted motion. WR in H.S and has great ball skills. Plays bigger than he is. 33 passes defender, 15 INTs in college. Very good instincts and feel for the game. Tough kid, plays banged up and doesnt miss practice. High character. Workaholic.
Cons - Takes too many chances. Can be bullied by bigger WRs at the line of scrimmage. Tries to make too many big plays instead of making the right play. Athleticism and size limits potential Feast or famine type of CB.
----------------------------------------------

My personal favorites:

QB - Jake Waters. Kids a competitor and tough as nails. Good fit for our system and models himself after Brees.

RB - David Johnson - Outside of Gordon and Gurley, Johnson is as good as any of them. A complete RB that would an awesome fit in our system. Very Matt Forte-ish.

WR - Tyler Lockett is 1 of my favorites in this entire draft, but could be gone in the 3rd. So besides him, Im really high on Justin Hardy and Tre McBride. Please go watch McBrides highlights. Some of those catches are outstanding and he has great value in the 5th.

Tight Ends - Wes Saxton. Very athletic and versatile. Could be an H-Back type of player like Marcel Reece or Delanie Walker.

OL - Corey Robinson - Very big and great length. Surprisingly athletic for his size. His issues can be fixed / improved over time.

DT - Leterrius Walton and Xavier Williams. Walton has massive upside with great size and athleticism and versatility. Williams isnt as big, but has great burst.

Edge Players - Lynden Trail and Max Valles. Both guys have what you want in an edge player. But Trail is a bigger freak. His potential is off the charts. Valles has the potential to be really good as well.

DB - Craig Mager and Holliman. Love the way Mager plays and is very athletic and physical. Holliman has elite instincts and ball skills. If he was better in run support and didnt have questions about his character and effort, he would be the top safety in this class. He still could be the best safety in this class though and is a true cover safety.

HIGHLIGHTS TO WATCH: David Johnson, Tre McBride, Justin Hardy, Lynden Trail.

Feel free to add to this.

I would love David Johnson, Langford, Perriman, Marpet, Xavier Williams and Jake Ryan in the mid to late rounds. Like what I see from all of them.

Yea im with ya... But not as high on Langford as others are. Wish he was a little more physical. But could be a good 3rd down RB. Would rather David Johnson, who is becoming 1 of my favorite players in the draft.

And Perriman has been mocked all over the place.... Have no idea where he could go. Ive seen him listed as high at #15 overall, and others have him as a 5th rounder. Have no idea A good comparison that Ive seen is Kenny Britt. Up and down.

But he probably will be gone by the 3rd and perhaps shouldnt have put him in here. Oh well.

Yeah I think Langford would be an excellent third down back with the possibility to take over a full-time role if he developed and put on some mass. He's a great pass catcher and solid in pass pro. I really want us to take David Johnson or Langford in the 4th or 5th rounds. I think they can both be solid contributors earltz especially on third downs.

And yeah Perriman is very tough to project. I think if he's available in the third we should pull the trigger on him, depending on how FA goes. He's very raw but has really good size, athleticism and tools. I think somebody takes him 2-3 just based on his potential alone.

Same here.

If Johnson is available in the 4th, someone is getting a steal. I think hes an every down NFL RB. And could be a very good 1 at that.

His burst is really good for his size and he runs away from defenders with ease. Kids gonna be a player.

And Langford in the late4th / 5th round is great value and could help out and contribute day 1.

I like Terrence McGee a lot. So well rounded and would not be surprised if he was a CSP type of guy.

Jake Waters looks like he has a future. Saw him play more than the others.

Agreed.

Magee just is a good football player that can do a lot. Probably won't ever be on top the depth chart, but is a solid back up that can do a lot on special teams.

And I'm a big Waters fan. Kid just has it. Fearless.

Masterful Analysis! Love Marpet. I'm afraid he will go higher than expected. Nice job, Thanks.

Wes Saxton - South Alabama. 6'3, 248lbs. 4.65 40dash. 36"vert. 9'9 borad.

he was a lot more productive in 2013. He got hurt in 2014 but it wasn't anything serious. But he missed a few games so his stats went way down. I think he had some ankle issues. He can catch real well and we missed having him around in 2014.

He would be open a lot of times but Bridge wouldn't see him. shite pissed me off. He would have had a TD against Miss State if Bridge sees him in the endzone.

he played on the same high school team as Jameis Winston and was a pretty good WR.

He reminds me of Ladarius Green from Lafayette in a way. Both of them can catch for a bigger guy but neither of them are the best blockers.

They would line Wes up all over the field.

He could probably put on some more muscle to help his blocking. He really isn't much of a technician when it comes to blocking. He's okay when he lines up as a H-back and blocks but as far as blocking on the line of scrimmage... not so much.

Awesome

You are way more familair with him than I am obviously

Yea I agree with that. Very big and broad build and athletic. And physical with the ball in his hands.

Not the best blocker for sure. And when I said "H-Back" I meant as a Swiss army knife type of player. A guy that can play Fullback, TE, split out wide as a WR, play in the slot, special teams, etc. A player you can put all over the field and exploit mismatches. Similar to a Marcel Reece.

And I'm obviously a fan of Saxton... But he's no Ladarius Green Green is 6'6, 240lbs and ran a 4.53 at the combine. Greens a true freak in the NFL. I've had him on my fantasy team as a backup TE because he's gonna blow up at sometime. Probably gonna be the year I don't get him

But I like Saxton and my favorite thing about him is that he can be a really versatile player in the NFL.

Thanks Snapper

And yes Marpet is rising on draft boards after the combine.

come on man give me a beak

I've watched more Sun Belt games the last few years and was struggling to find a guy to compare him to. I haven't been as tuned into the rest of college ball because I started to go to South Alabama's home games the last few years. So I'm limited.

I was kinda surprised he ran as well as he did at the combine to be honest.

Saxton had 50 catches in 2013 but that was when we alternated QB's. But then Bridge became "the guy" in 2014 and well... his production kind of sucked because of it. I've said my piece on Bridge though.

I'm just messing man. You know way more about him than I do.

And Saxton is very physical with the ball... Wish he would block like that. But if used properly, he could be a solid NFL player.
