BYU is HOPING for an invite to a major conference. Reality is nobody wants them.

I don't think that's true
BYU has one of the biggest fan bases in college football and basketball

I assume BYU would join the Big 12 for all sports, and obviously basketball and baseball games happen on Sundays. But if they worked all that out in the Mountain West, I'm sure they could work it out in a power conference.

Thats a bad reason to not admit BYU. How many times has the school you root for played on Sunday? For regular season games, it would literally not be that hard to give BYU Sundays off. BYU, Cincinnati, Colorado St and Boise St to the new Big 12. Below are the current basketball records of the new teams i mentioned.
NORTH:
West Virginia (22-6)
Cincinnati (19-9)
Iowa St
Kansas
Kansas St
Colorado St (24-5)
Boise St (21-7)
SOUTH:
Texas
Texas Tech
TCU
Oklahoma
Oklahoma St
Baylor
BYU (21-8)
Seriously, just make this happen already. Those additions would the Big 12 sick in basketball!

And that's that's just one of the reasons, but there's a reason why the PAC hasn't gone after them, Zamoro has gone over that in length. Their only destination is the big 12 trying to save itself. And even then, I won't be surprised if we see the pac 16 happen with texas, tech, oklahoma, and OSU happens

Does BYU play baseball?
Posted on 2/26/15 at 1:04 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
I'm assuming they do
Posted on 2/26/15 at 1:07 pm to WestCoastAg
Yeah I just checked apparently they do. I think the Big 12 will add them plus another at some point fairly soon and that will be that
Posted on 2/26/15 at 1:08 pm to ShaneTheLegLechler
Depends on how well that goes, but it still won't surprise me if that conference blows up after their GOR runs out

Baseball and softball quite often. Track & Field and soccer at times, especially conference championship weekends/tournaments.

Yeah, played LSU two years ago in BR.

If the Big 12 wanted BYU they would have been on board by now, my guess is that culture just doesn't fit in the big ole state of Texas
I think the Big 12 likes where they are at and going to 14 teams has scheduling headaches

Neither BYU or UH are memebers of the American Assiciation of Universities. TAMU and Mizzou were, which is why they were invited by the SEC.
Nebraska was too, and AAU memebership is a prerequisite for Big 10 membership, and they got kicked out of the AAU later, puyts them in hot water. Rutgers and Maryland were memebrs of course.
This is all about the Presidents' (of the schools) points of view.

East West divisions would be better, I think.
EAST:
West Virginia
Cincinnati
Iowa State
Oklahoma
Ok State
Kansas
Kansas State
WEST:
BYU
Texas Tech
Boise State
Colorado State
Baylor
TCU
Texas
Texas and OU will have to get over the thing about playing in the same division. Just do an automatic crossover every year and be done with it. Auburn/GA deal with it, Bama/Tennessee deal with it, etc.

I don't see why they would join the Big 12 in all sports.
They could just do football and maybe basketball and be fine with the Sunday issue.
I think the thornier issue with them joining the Big 12 is the fact that they have a deal with ESPN to air all their home gamers (sans 1 a year for BYUTV) while the Big 12 now has a major deal with Fox.
