I can't imagine what Ivan is going through, but this is absolutely horrible news that no family member wants.

Jeez. Doesn't look good. This kid doesn't look too happy. I know it's just one picture, but you have to imagine they would release one of him smiling if they had one. Apologies if I'm reaching too much, and this is offensive. Family is definitely in my prayers.

Damn, this is scary. Hope it all turns out ok.

Grow a pair. This is a message board, not a political correctness convention.
Too many people these days just think unhappy children are normal. This kid has been gone since Sunday, and no foul play is suspected. It's extremely likely that he killed himself. And that's a fricking shame because maybe it could have been prevented.
The media ALWAYS looks for the best picture of someone. That's what they do. If they can't find a picture of a damn kid smiling, it's pretty likely that he's not a happy person. Truly happy people don't kill themselves. I've known people who have killed themselves, and it's fricking horrible. Depression is a horrible disease, and more people in this world need to wake up and notice when they have loved ones struggling with it.
Yeah. Maybe I am jumping to conclusions, but sometimes jumping to conclusions can save a life.
If any of your downvoters want to actually talk about it, shoot me an email at SwaggerCopterTD AT gmail.
Or just keep being passive aggressive pussies who downvote without discussion. Your call.

Yep depression is a hell of thing. Crazy how it can affect the happiest of people too. I consider myself extremely happy and I even had a spell of depression where I had to seek out help.

No one is offended by it. It was just a dumb post.

Same. There are two types of depressed people. The obvious kind, and the very not obvious kind (which I fit into).

And this thinking is why people don't actively help depressed people. The thing about a depressed person is that they very often won't go seeking help alone.

I suffer with major depression myself and it's something that should be talked about and not pushed aside imo.
A lot of problems could be solved by talking but some people are afraid of being judged.
That's what I think.

You aren't wrong about depression
It was you referencing the one picture posted as evidence that he was depressed. There are lots of people that suffer from depression and put on smiles all the time to hide their true feelings. In fact, those seem to be the ones who usually hurt themselves the most because it makes it impossible for others to see what they are truly going through.
Yes, it does seem likely that suicide is what happened. But the fact that you used his picture as evidence to why was just a little weird IMO.
That all being said, I completely agree with you that there is a huge issue with the perception on mental illness and depression in our country.

Grow a pair? For using a fricking emoji? Stop being a sensitive bitch. Assuming so many things off of one photo is stupid and that post was stupid. As someone who has suffered from depression and contemplated murder-suicide I know exactly what some people go through. However, if we look at a picture of someone not smiling and conclude that they're depressed and that they've killed themself then I don't know what to say to you, really. I hope they find him alive and well.

The jump I made was not from this picture. It was from assuming this is the best picture they had of him. If you can't find a single picture of a person smiling, it's very likely they are unhappy. Sticking to that.
So if you want to criticize a conclusion I jumped to, criticize that I assumed they worked hard to find a picture of him. They probably just didn't give a frick. You're right. If I had a loved one missing, I'd give the media a picture of them unhappy.

Maisel's car was found near the end of the Charlotte Pier, which leads into Lake Ontario, but there was no indication of foul play.
Yikes. Doesn't sound good. Especially when the weather has been pure shite up there lately.

Maybe they wanted to give a neutral face because he probably won't be smiling if they find him that would be my best guess. Btw I didn't down vote you.
