Raise the Wolf

Listen, are there any wildlife conservationists out there? Or hunters?
The past few weeks, I've seen this wolf in my backyard. I live in a rural area, but not too rural. Bottom line: there's a lot of woods behind my property.
My question is, would be illegal for me to raise it on my property? If not, I may just shoot the fricker and pay someone to taxiderm it, then sell the hide for whatever it's worth.
Some questions I have...If I do raise it, has anybody else done this? Do you need a permit? Can you suggest a safe sedative for animals?
I want to give it a name and see how well he adapts. My on again, off again girlfriend keeps yapping about how dangerous it would be, and my nebby neighbor keeps telling I shouldn't feed this wild animal. I dunno, I kinda want to try making the wolf a quasi pet.??? Everybody yaps about how cute their dog is, but I think it'd be pretty cool to walk this fricker around on a leash at a park or something.
Thanks ahead of time. I'll try to get a picture of this crazy fricker for you guys. I've tried but he won't stay still. If I can just get him to stand still, I'll upload. Bastard's quick.

Good luck with that. Wolves will not be domesticated.

Wolves are much much larger.

Many states make it illegal to keep a wolf as a pet, so check the laws or ask an attorney.
Even if you do keep it, they are horrible pets. Very skittish, aggressive when food is present, etc. It takes literally hands on training and domestication over the course of multiple generations to tame a wolf, and even then you aren't completely guaranteed success.
As for killing it, again, you might want to check the laws in your state concerning shooting a wolf.

I'll up your wolf and show up at your dog park with my hyena

Fwiw, hyenas aren't from the dog family. They are related to cats and mongooses.

I have a friend who raises almost wolves around Shrevetexas. Almost means they are like 95% wolves, 5% domestic, or something like that to be legal to raise. It's illegal in La. to raise full blooded. It has to have some domestication in it to be legal.

Yeah, you are crazy if you think a wolf would let you walk him on a leash.

I dated a girl whose mother owned three wolf hybrids. Two of them were like 97% and the third was around 95%.
Awful animals. I hated them. They were so damn skittish but turned into ravenous beasts at the sight of food.
ETA: "Hate" is a strong word. Let's just say I hated going over there because of the dogs.

I feel your pain. I have moments in group settings where I know not to chime in with my useless fact but it burns deep inside to be released. Usually its a conversation killer and I know it but cant help myself
