Who runs an UTV with no title/registration? I'm looking to buy a used one and the seller can't locate the title as it has been used on a farm since the initial purchase. Is this something to be concerned about or is this common?

Can't imagine how it would ever come up.

Have a notary type up a bill of sale with the VIN and you're good to go. Only time you'd need a title or registration is if your on some reserves I think.

Peopld up here jack ATVs and restamp the vin and resale them online regularly, it's slowed down since the sting operations a few years ago, but is still fairly common.

I read some where that paid trails will not let you on them unless you have a LA registration sticker. I'm new to utv's and just want to make sure I'm not doing something out of the norm by having no title.

I'm seeing this at DMV.org:
Unless you use your all-terrain vehicle (ATV) solely for agricultural purposes, you must register it with the LA OMV. To register your ATV, bring the title, bill of sale, and proof of insurance to your local Louisiana OMV office. The registration fee is $3 per year for 4 years.

Correct, some of the state run trails will require a registration sticker for entry and use, which is only obtainable if the title is in your name I believe.

With that being said I'm not a huge fan of something like that without a title, on a ragged out, project ATV or something like that I'm ok without a title. On something like a UTV or even a relatively new ATV that I'll be spending several thousand on I'd feel more comfortable having an actual title in my name. I've seen a few times where guys are selling ATVs and UTVs that are only a couple years old without titles. Most of the time it's financed, the bank still has the title and they're in a financial pinch so they're trying to dumb it off. No thanks.
