There are tickets for sale on Craigslist, but some of those might be scammers with fake tickets.

Crucial is access to private tents for the cook-off.
General admission during the cook-off is not worth your time or money. Much better to get to your favorite barbecue place and buy a spread.
General admission during the rodeo and the concerts is worth the effort.
