I don't think you understand what I'm saying. Any time you or anyone else says QB1 'beat' QB2 you or somebody else is saying something that makes no sense.

What did Manning win in college?

What kind of ridiculous argument is this?

Football is a team game, is it not?

It's a fact Gators like to throw around about Manning, I don't think anyone is seriously saying Wuerffel is better simply because Manning never won a game against UF.

It was Manning vs Booty in high school, Manning vs Wuerffel in college, Manning vs Leaf in the NFL draft, then Manning vs Brady. At times considered the clear cut #1 at each respective level but never for long. But at least it is great to be in the conversation at every single level.

Favre's senior year was 1990. His stats were nothing special but he was great enough to foist Curly Hallman onto LSU for 5 years.

In no order (giving early 90's some love that is mostly lacking in this thread):

Brett Favre
Ron Powlus
Drew Bledsoe
Gino Torretta
Jay Barker

This post at least suggests that Wuerfel was better than Manning. I can't stress enough that such a statement is not true.

DW fit nicely into the HBC's then-innovative offensive and put up some gaudy numbers, but if that's our guiding light then we should just pedestalize Andre Ware and Colt Brennan as co-GOAT and call it a day.

Manning was better than Wuerfel at the game of football. No reasonable human being disputes this.

And to reiterate, the correct answer is Michael Vick. So I guess we're arguing about slots 2-5.

I think Manning was better at the game of football than any other player to every lace them up. I was speaking more toward the popular opinion. DW did win the Heisman in 1996, and I don't think Manning was even in the discussion that year. Manning was robbed in 1997 of the Heisman but he won every other award imaginable that year. Manning's best year did not overlap with Wuerffel. The other years, Wuerffel got the accolades over Manning.

Vick nearly single-handedly beat FSU in 1999, a team that ran the table as the #1 ranked team since pre-season, a very rare feat. I was a huge FSU fan at that time because of the Catholic High representation in the 90's, so I recall that game vividly. A rare athlete can dominate college given the fact that vast majority of opposing players will never play in the NFL.

You know what, I actually know the name. That says something for a small school guy. Was it more Rattay or that insane wide receiver they had? What was his name again? Also, what happened to both of them?
