re: Josh Hamilton meeting w/ MLB Today

Honestly, Hamilton is one of the coolest players I've seen in the MLB. He was always staying out on the field way longer than he needed to sign autographs for kids and stuff. I was disappointed with the way he left the Rangers, and have rooted against him ever since as a player. But he seems like a good guy and I hope he is able to recover from his drug problem if it has come back.

Going to LA was probably a bad move in hindsight.

Two ways to look at it.
Send him somewhere where cocaine is readily available like L.A.
Or he goes somewhere so fricking boring the only thing left to do is drugs.

It was a bad move in foresight as well. Look, he's wildly overpaid and it was a terrible deal, even at the time. Even without the possibility of relapse, he was a guy with a terrible injury history and ballooning strikeout rates. This wasn't going to end well. But forget about all that...
It was a bad move for him personally. The Rangers bent over backwards for him, and really did a lot for him as a person to help him overcome his addiction. The Angels were not going to coddle him to the same degree the Rangers were willing to. The complete abandonment of his support structure, the increase of pressure, and the decline of his performance all added up to a potential relapse for a recovering addict.
I don't think this means his conversion or even his sobriety were a fraud. I think he made some poor decisions, which made it harder for him to stay sober. He took it for granted, and that's more sad than anything.

Trout was the painkiller master during fall ball and leading up to spring training 2 years ago, I have no idea about now, but its not surprising this happened when you teamed Hamilton up with him.

That's because you are a close minded a-hole that doesn't understand addiction.
I can guarantee that Josh does not care what you "don't buy into"

Those bashing apparently have no idea what an addict goes through. Not talking about the guy that drinks too much and makes bad decisions or the guy that smokes to much reefer or is a party drug user. We are talking about a true addict. That shite don't go away, God or not. God is faith, addiction and the pain addicts feel is real. Perspective folks

Have always been a big fan of Josh and think he has an incredible story. I picked his book up and read it all in less than 2 days - I just couldn't put it down. I truly hope he is able to keep his addictions under control. I have some friends who are battling a lot of the same demons and I've seen what it can do to a person. Prayers that He can recover from this recent relapse

This guy will sadly probably be dead shortly after his baseball career ends. Too much free time can only be detrimental to any recovery program he might be on.
