You never stop being an addict. If it's a relapse, that's just sad.

I knew there were issues when the Reds suddenly traded him.

Rumors are swirling that he is getting 80 games. I wonder if this is grounds to terminate his contract? I would think it is.

I don't know, but the Yankees weren't able to terminate A-Rod's contract when he was suspended for a year, right?

Well, I'm guessing given his history there could be a clause that allows them to void the contract if he gets suspended for drug use again. Could be wishful thinking though.

Seems like there is no such clause. Likely due to the fact that the MLBPA would not allow it. If true, then that sucks!

U less his contract stated he would be clean the Angels cannot terminate for his first failed test.

Damn, that sucks. I always hoped he could stay clean and perform.

This wouldn't be his first though, right? I mean he was banned from baseball fro 2 years IIRC.

If he gets suspended it doesn't take effect until he can actually play right? Since he's injured and gonna miss the first month anyways.

Hamilton has one of the most unbelievable stories (good and bad) and careers in pop culture. Reading his interviews, there seem to be real concerns with him and drugs that are going to be lifelong. More than what you see with someone who is given the typical addict label.
His career has been unbelievable; Reds fans always compared him to the natural for being able to come back and play well in MLB after being away from baseball for a few years. He even had a Roy Hobbs moment that never seems to get brought up. After the Rangers blew game 6 in the 9th, he hit a 2 run HR in the 10th that should have won the world series. Of course, the Rangers just blew the game again the next half inning. Otherwise, that would be one of the most famous home runs in baseball history.
ETA: I also forgot that he threw the ball to the kid where the dad ended up falling over the railing and passing away. Hamilton is a walking 30 for 30 documentary. Fascinating athlete. I'm not surprised but hate to see the relapse news.

Article I read from Heyman said it would be his first offense as a MLB player and would probably be required to go to rehab with no suspension.
Article also said he did not fail a drug test, but turned himself in on his own, which I find pretty honorable.
I feel horrible for him. Drugs seem to really have a grip on him.
To those saying he is full of bs, it is possible to believe in God, preach HIS word and still make mistakes with addiction and sin. I am not sure how this makes him a fraud. Without him believing in God, and finding some sort of purpose, he most probably would have been dead long ago. You can call it an act or whatever, but, it probably saved his life. I also do not see how this would deserve a lifetime ban a suggested earlier?
I hope he figures things out, not from a baseball angle, but for his personal life.

I'm sure the Angels would love to void his contract. It is unbelievable how much money they owe him for the next 3 years.
But, they weren't able to include a morals clause in his contract. It really sucks for LA, because Hamilton is only a shell of the player he once was, and besides, he can't stay healthy.
