If we use a concierge to make a reservation at a restaurant, what is an appropriate tip?

$5-10 bucks if it is not a place that is difficult to get a table at

If I have a twenty I give it

But if I only have change I usually give him a pen (always carry 3 cross Pens in my pocket for these occasions)

Depends on the restaurant.

$20 on a low side $100 for a really hard table to get.

Did they get you into French Laundry? Or did they just make a reservation at the sushi place across the street on opentable?

Whatever you're comfortable with. If it's a hard reservation to get or something, I would make a special note of it. If it's just a standard thing after asking for a dining rec, about the same as a valet.

Depends if you are at the Ritz in London (£20) or a wannabe poser like Atlantis in Nassau ($5 or $10).

And if you want to use them more than once a handwritten thank you note.

I was going to say that would be the max. I can book a table for 2 on open table for tomorrow or Thursday.

Unless of course it's a larger party or at a specific time that would otherwise not be available.

Just ensures you of top service for the rest of the stay. 20.00 in Vegas is nada. I'd probably be aiming for higher.

Yea, I guess it's really what the OP's end game is. And I've never really "done" vegas it's probably the least familiar city of mine in the US.

Which they? If it's the knuckle-draggers at a Casino, I don't care.
I won't stay at an Atlantis.
I'm not from Chalmette, brah.
Maybe that's your speed.

Dude it is 2015, you could have done it yourself with a 2 minute call. Let me guess.......he suggested it. If so they are paying him already.

You're pretending to be insightful.
First indication that you are not.

I've had a couple of conferences at the Atlantis and had to attend functions there. I tip folks there who assisted me. It's not their fault that the complex is déclassé.

I stay at nice places and I'm doubtful that the staff cares whether I'm comfortable, wealthy or a poser only that I treat them like I'd want to be treated if I were them. I don't care how you feel about that.

You like trying to pick fights where there aren't fights? That must be a fun way to go through life. Good luck with that.
