trading him for anything less than the first pick in the draft would be retarded , you would have to get the best qb available then

In the writer's defense, he says the Bills should make a play for Brees next offseason.

He suggests a 1st & 3rd next year plus a 2nd in 2017 plus lagniappe.

If they changed that to 1st & 2nd in 2016 and 1st and 3rd in 2017 plus a little lagniappe for a 37 yr old Brees, I would strongly consider that.

I wouldn't be against it if we got something insane. Do what the Patriots do and offload veterans before they become useless. Seems to be a recipe for success for them and it also frees up a ton of cap. Problem is Saints suck at filling voids in the draft.

The patriots also do that while keeping an all time great qb

This is what we did with Sproles and people are STILL freakin' pissed off about it.

Hopefully more people understand now it wasn't the best move.

Getting rid of Sproles was easily the right move.

I think it made the offense more predictable (getting rid of sproles)

You may be right, but it was a case of trying to let him go a year too soon rather than a year too late. I think that's what they did.

Funny that was one of the biggest complaints about him.

Our offensive issues were oline based.

I think when we even have current players saying losing Sproles hurt the offense, maybe there's something to it.

We became predictable with him that last year. But not having that "strike-from-anywhere-on-the-field" threat helped defenses key in on the strengths we still had. Yes, the offensive line played like garbage, but we had no homerun threat. Maybe it wasn't missing Sproles specifically, but not having that type of player in our offense hurt.

If you actually watched the games with Sproles from 2012-onward we were very predictable when Sproles was in the game. Everytime he came in we threw it to him on a screen or it was a designed pass play for him. We were very predictable with our play calling with him.

The first year he was here, 2011, we were unstoppable on offense because you never knew who we were going to throw at you. Sproles ran it a lot more and kept defenses from just sitting back in coverage when he came in.

No one wants to take on that bloated salary.

Especially considering they would be able to get him on a 1 year $19.75M deal that they would easily be able to extended at a lower base salary (no way they would trade a top pick w/o having a sign & trade deal in place).
