Its probably never gonna catch up to them, the process to get in is ridiculously tedious and I can't really speak for the football team considering they didn't have one when I was there, but they made 100% sure that all of us were smart enough to do well in college even without being pushed academically our senior year.

Can someone explain how this school is set up, an why there not eligible too compete in Florida highschool playoffs?

Because they are basically the same as Findlay Prep. They pull athletes from all over the nation to their academy.

More like Oak Hill without the military angle. Findlay Prep is a sham that somehow gets away with what they do. Findlay is what Prime Prep tried to be but they didn't pay off the right people and happen to be in Texas where its a little harder to slip by.

IMG will get away with what they do(if the lenient academic stuff is true)because of money. They are respected and backed on a world level and the NCAA nor FL is fricking with them unless they really screw up. Also why I never bought into the Weinke pushing kids to FSU stuff. Too much to lose there if they let that happen. Don't want a stink raised. Stay as under the radar as possible(relatively since they are loaded). Money and power players can cover up a lot of transgressions.

I can't tell what the frick is going on in this thread. A guy that is a friend of J Henderson's parents says this:
quote:

I'm friends with the parents of Justin Henderson of Denham Springs. He's a sophomore at IMG this year.

The way they explained it to me was exactly as you say... A place where kids get professional training in their respective sports. If I remember correctly, it started as a tennis academy and expanded into what it is today.

You're also correct in that a number of the kids that attend IMG are there on some type of scholarship.

Also, from what I'm told, they have pretty strict academic standards. Students get all the help (tutoring) they need, but they don't just "get a free pass" because they're talented. I think something like 98% of graduates qualify for and attend college.

But a guy who went there said this:
quote:

That's completely false. I went there from 2010-2011 and the academics were a big "selling point" to my parents but I literally never went to class and I still had good grades. Every athlete that goes to that school is basically given passing grades, they wouldn't consistently rake in $60k per kid that goes there to be an ATHLETE if they failed all of us in school.

Then another guy says that they academics are a joke while another guy says that IMG is very stringent.

Oh, then another guy says it 80k per year when another guy says it's only $160 per year.

How in the entire frick does such a disparity of information about ONE school get placed on one thread?

It's all over the board. And don't just blame it on "Its the rant".....who is full of shite, and who is not?

I have a friend who is on staff at IMG in another sport. They have a son who is a gifted athlete who attends high school there. It is a legitimate school but, it is heavily focused on athletics.
