I would think this was prlly dictated from within by personal preference. Most people prefer Glock over everything else.

I think Glock is learned to like. It's so popular that everyone has to be cool to get that for their first gun and they eventually like it. It just so happens that it is also very durable.
Every person that I know that bought a Glock first, could not shoot it very well. When I would hand them my CZ75 they magically became better. Later, my HK.

I should post the test the Army did with the Glock vs M9 back when they were evaluating it for features that would be desired in future GI pistols. Definitely take the wind out the Glock-tard sails.

Agree with all of that. After feeling a Walther PPQ and shooting it, it blew away the Glock 19 and it def on the short list of semi-autos I want. All I was saying is that Glock is synonymous with polymer semi-auto so it's no surprise that many of the operators more than likely have been using Glocks as their own personal weapons at home because nearly everyone does.

Im not disputing what went on years ago, but if the M9 was superior why would they be making the transition to Glock?
Also, what features are you talking about? Solid steel gun? Hammer? Better ergonomics? Safety? Does all of that outweigh reliability?

They did and the Colts are now being phased out.
ETA: that reply was not to you, dawg.

Military and Law Enforcement can purchase "Blue Label" Glocks at Baton Rouge Police Supply for right at $400.

Exactly. I consider Glocks to have "combat accuracy". There's a reason for so many aftermarket add-on's for Glocks. If Glocks were target accurate from the factory, the only reason one would want an aftermarket barrel would be to shoot lead nosed ammo.
I wonder how many military issued Glocks are going to end up with Ghost 3.5 trigger connectors, aftermarket barrels, night sights, etc.

They aren't making a transition. This is being made an option in addition to the various pistols already in MARSOC's arsenal.

They examined material and ergonomic factors but as far as accuracy and reliability there was little difference. 10-day accelerated environmental test showed the Glock did no better than the M9, both failed by day-8 but the M9 could be made to function again with field expedient measures while the Glock could not. Reliability was also a non-factor, M9 has a MRBF of 20,000+ rds so I'm not sure why you think the Glock is definitively more reliable.

What were the fail points?
