Per Twitter.

#BREAKING: @DeAngeloRB tells me he's released from @Panthers. Done deal. Exclusive story - tonight at 11pm

Absolutely thrilled to see him gone. He was a constant thorn in our side, and while he would be average the entire season, he would somehow have career games twice a year when he played us.

Adios, Williams, and Godspeed

What's the reason for the release? Washed up? Injuries?

Was making more than he was worth, plus Stewart got healthy late in the season and started playing really well.

Just have to hope that he doesn't end up in Atl.

i think theyve learned their lesson on signing old, injury prone RBs

What's vet minimum for a guy like him?

You know they drafted both him and Stewart right?

Pretty sure he was referring to the Falcons signing Jackson.

Something like $1.2m, IIRC. That number pretty much only matters to Benson. Sign anyone to a one year vet min deal, and they have the same cap hit as a second year vet min player ($500Kish).

How about we draft late or UDFA RB with blazing speed who will run threw a brick wall for us.

Williams is a vet. He ain't doin that

He'd probably only do that twice a year when we play the Panthers. Depending on how mutual the split was.

He was always good for at least one long run against us. Usually for a touchdown. Drive me nuts. Glad he's gone.

I have this strange suspicion that the Saints could show interest especially with Mark Ingram likely to walk.

I guess I wouldn't hate it at all, but the past injury issues make me wary that they'd rely on him heavily. However, when have the Saints ever relied on one RB heavily since Deuce?

and he will still manage to gain 110 yards and 2 TDs against the Saints while hosting a family BBQ at his home during retirement.
